Can you describe the PNG issue? I have PNG graphics on all of my sites and haven't seen anything unusual, and yes they have transparency in them.
On one of my sites I have a translucent overlay that shows "playback controls" when the mouse hovers over an image. The overlay is displayed using a "fade effect" by changing its opacity over a period of 1.5 seconds. During the opacity changes, the translucencies show some weird patterns and stippling that none of the other browsers (even Safari and OmniWeb -- other WebKit browsers) display.

The site has yet to be officially pushed, so I can't direct you to it at this time.

so far so good I've been using it since last night and I like it, but I'm not a tech guy so I'm probably missing something.

I keep trying to understand this, but it comes across as sounding like Charlie Brown's (another famous sly guy) teacher!

I was told to think outside the box, how did I get in the box in the first place?

slyinglide, thanks for starting this thread. I don't know how long it would have taken me to find this browser without it. O0

BB I have run into the PNG issue. Let's hope they fix it by the time the GA version is released.

I've been playing with it for the last couple of hours and while it is fast, so is Firefox without any plugins.  This brings me to some "flaws" that I have found.

1) Because it is so new, there isn't any of the plugins that are required for many video sites on the web, such as ABC.com and Fox.com.  These will only come if there's enough people using the browser.
2) Chrome doesn't always render proper CSS and XHTML appropriately.
3) Importing bookmarks and such from Firefox is broken.
4) Oh, and typing Google.com in the address bar closes the browser...wtf?
5) I don't like that when I open a new browser that it shows all the pages I viewed last session.

I have had no problem what so ever with the issues in bold. All video at ABC.com played flawlessly. When I typed Google.com in the address bar it navigated to the google home page.

Try watching the full episodes.  You will not be able to since the company that provides the player (Move Networks) has not created a player for Google Chrome yet.

Google Chrome doesn't offer anything more than Firefox does. Firefox for me...even on my mac!

Yeah I'm finding a lot of web based tools i use at work have issues with Chrome.  But companies will step up and support Chrome in no time.

I tried Chrome for about 5 minutes and then ditched it and returned to FF. I didn't notice any speed difference, and really much more appreciate the customization that I can do on FF. Chrome very limited on customization.

I also just downloaded the beta for IE 8. So far, interesting. While I always have a copy of IE on the computer for the few times that something won't play/load right in FF -- really have never had the need to use it much at all.
