Noob here, Hi baldies!
« on: September 01, 2008, 06:58:38 PM »
I have been lurking here for a couple weeks, trying to build up confidence to take the final plunge. 23 from San Diego.

I have never had my hair shorter then 1inch on top and 1/2 inch on the sides and it looks pretty good at that point but i am tired of spending 22$ every 5 weeks to get a haircut.

All of my friends tell me not to do it, my family thinks it will look bad. I am a pretty decent looking guy with hair but my confidence falls when i feel like my receding hairline is showing. Going bald = no receding hairline, haha, that is the beauty of it. But I am also nervous that once i shave my head girls will find me less attractive, and me being attractive is basically the only reason girls talk to me because i am a pretty quiet guy. I have been reading a lot of posts on this forum about confidence and relationships and that is basically why i decided to stop lurking and introduce myself.

I think I would look ok bald, i kinda have a big head though...

Brother, it's ONLY hair.  Read the fine posts about head shaving.  Try it for 30 days.  You can always grow it back if you don't like the look.  I think you probably will!

An honest, down to earth girl will like you with or without hair.

As far as the size of your head being an issue, look at my avatar.  My head isn't exactly small, and my wife loves the new me!

Being Sly is about a positive and healthy attitude about being bald and how you carry yourself as a person.

Again, Welcome Bro!

P.S.  Don't be afraid to ask questions, the fine folks here at SBG WILL give you honest and informative answers!

Jaxon, first off, good to have you here.  Welcome.
As BW said, it's all about being positive - just like with anything in our lives.
Shaving your head can seem like a huge decision, and myself and others have felt the anxiety of doing so.  But it turns out to be no big deal to the rest of the world.
You said that you're a quiet dude, and you're nervous about your appeal to women.  Women want a MAN.  Someone that makes decisions and stands by them.  If you, and only you, want to shave your head, then do it.  You will look fine, and it will give you give you something to talk about, which may help out your social game.

There's a lot of good guys here, that are happy to answer your questions.  Take care.

haha thanks guys!

plunge taken

I will post a pic when the final deed is done!

I went outside with scissors and i didn't come back in until it was too late to save my hair. I still have not yet seen the final product but i am excited for it to be honest. Right now it looks terrible as i said, all i had were scissors, haha.

This is going to be fun!

JaXon,

Welcome to the forum.

Good decision in taking the first step to slyness with the scissors.   Time to get a razor and take it down real smooth ....    You will love it.

You have to do whats right for you. That being said, if you're self conscious about your hair you need to try shaving. For me, I was happy with my new look after a few swipes of the razor, others... some say a week, some a month, some a year or two.

Funny thing, after I shaved I didn't wear a hat anywhere. I was quite proud of my bald head. I ended up having a long weekend and didn't shave it for 2 days. So quickly I became self conscious and put on a hat to go out on day 3. The whole night out with the hat on I couldn't wait to get home, soak in a shower and then shave my head back down to freedom length... sly

Dude, I was terrified to shave my head. Now, I don't want to go a day without shaving. With stubble or hair I'm vain and am quite aware of the lack of confidence that comes on strong. A clean shaved head is to me what spinach is to Popeye. It changes me. Would it change you? Dunno, maybe. I can't imagine any other way of finding that out unless you try it. Shaving can be one of the most liberating experiences of your life or be a mistake you regret for a month until your hair grows back. I can think of worst things.

Life is a short adventure. Explore.

If you shave your hair now, 3 days later you will have enough stubble to not be considered bald.

Welcome to the Forum JaXon! You will be shocked at the feeling of freedom that no longer worrying about your hair brings. You will probably have a short period of being uncomfortable with your new look until you are out and about with it and until those you care about see it.

No big deal really!
