Well as one of the lurkers here who finally finds a need to post...let me tell you my tale of somewhat woe... Mother nature and I are locked in mortal combat... Like my girlfriend, mother nature is winning 90 percent of the time - however this time I might win the big prize - a nice bald head... You see for years I have hinted my desire to be bald and met with the not so surprising "are you kidding me" response - in fact for a year or two I never mentioned it - my girlfriend in fact went to the great lengths to contact my barber and tell him NOT to give in to any pleads of mine (though she sounds like a villioness in this story I love her completely as she does me) Anyhow I figured let time do the job and that's that... A few weeks ago I had to pick up her up from her hair stylist... You can not imagine my surprise when I went into the salon and was greeted by her very BALD very SLY stylist George... That got me thinking... So I have made an appointment to see him this week... My question is do you think I approach him tell him I eventually want to be bald (for work and all the other trappings in life I need to take my hair down to nothing in steps) and have him work on the girlfriend... Or do I just go in ask for a shorter cut progressively without him in on the act? Advice is welcome and appreciated

Hey BiG-
Welcome to the Forum! Dude... your life, your decision.
If she really loves you it won't matter.

Exactly...like Mike..( hey that ryhms) LOL....anyways...If she loves you, it shouldnt matter. By falling into the well I dont know if my g/f wife will like it...well that just gives her more room to move in and start making more decisions for you. I dont want or mean to sound terrible here, but there are some women out there that will take every inch of freedom from their man, just to make them feel more secure. Just do it bro, you will not regret it. I would just go to her stylist and say hey George, give me one of those.

Welcome BaldisGood!
Do what YOU want. If you shave it off, it will grow back if you don't like it. I understand the flack that you can get from girlfriends, spouses, ect. We're all here to help you Bro!

Thank you everyone... It is nice being able to discuss this freely... Anyway feeling a little bold (while I paint our hallway - figured how mad could she get with a roller in my hand and some "Wicker Basket" paint on the wall) I brought up going to George... I said to her "what kinda cut do you think I should get?". She said something shorter (for the record in a weird vain protest I let my hair get pretty long though lately even I am noticing the thinning up there) So I made a crack about a headshave and of course I got a polite "I don't think so" with a follow up of "When it get thinner up there let's talk". So now one other question (with out sounding like a kook) Do I help myself out by a little extra thinning (without much effort some of my hair just sheds when I run my hand through my hair). I never thought this would be a big deal.

Tell George you like his "cut" ... see what his suggestions are. But in the end, just do it, bro.

Welcome, here, Bro!
If YOU want it - you could buy a clipper and do it by yourself; step for step, week for week, one step shorter and finally no guard and then you do the deed and shave.
May be it's a way for you, like some of us did.
Good luck!
See you.

BaldIsGood, how would your girlfriend react if you started telling her how to do her hair or dress or makeup?

Man, Just shave the head........If she absolutely hates it, or you find out its not the style you want, the hair will grow back.........At least some of it, Mother Nature may keep more of it.

O.K. I apologize, I am a big believer in first making yourself happy, because as long as you are happy you can then make people around you happy. You may not see it, but if one of your desires is to have a bald head, and you are having a struggle with that decision, other people can sense that struggle. They may not know what it is, but they can sense that you are not happy......
Make yourself HAPPY, FIRST.................
