Diffuse Thinning

Hey Guys,

Phil Man had posted on another topic about forums where dudes actually insult each other about the relative states of their hairlines.  I thought this would be hilarious (albeit depressing) to read as it's kind of the pot calling the kettle black, so I jumped onto the Hairloss Talk site.  Haven't found those instances yet, but i did find dudes talking about diffused thinning.  I'd not heard of this and basically came to understand it as a lot like female pattern baldness?  Am i wrong in assuming it means you're just thinning the same everywhere?  Anyways i wanted to know if guys with this type of baldness eventuallly go totally bald everywhere.  That would be pretty cool as i love being sly, but haven't really hooked in mentally to the whole shaving process.  I skip a day or two here and there.  Thanks

Your assumption is basically correct. Usually, the hairline stays in tact, but the hair is thin over the entire head where MPB occurs.. Most of the time it's combined with a receding hair line. Non-diffuse thinners typically have a receding hair line and/or a bald spot.

I'm confused as to why you're concerned about it?

I'm not concerned, was just wondering if my understanding of it was correct.  I.E. I then went on to imagine if it progresses all the way to where you don't have to shave anymore.  I don't have that kind of hairloss, so i'm not wondering if it'll happen to me.  Just thought it would be cool if i did instead, as then when i hit my 40s or 50s or whatever, wouldn't have to shave anymore.

My hair was thinning like this.
Imagine MPB but instead of your hairline receding back to the hairy horseshoe, it just slowly fades all over into that pattern.

LOL I got u all beat. As Ive stated in the past, I had transplants on the front to middle of my scalp. From 1999-2001,  the middle & back receded badly. I looked like a forest out of whack with nature. What did I do? I had the whole top lasered off in addition to the sides and back (a little) and had 1/2 the tp's removed surgically with some dermabasrion and follow-up laser on the tranplanted hairs thrown in..

Wait, so is your whole head not lasered?  I'd seen references to your surgery all around the site and imagined the whole dome was bald now.  I guess your pattern matches horseshoe MPB then?  Did it used to look like Matt Lauer does now:

Not the whole head as I have gray hair of course. the entire top was lasered; I took the back down say 1 inch extra and the sides down 1 inch also. Its the equivalent of the highest Norwood Chart #.

Matt Lauer has much more hair than I originally did circa 2001.

I haven't seen anyone naturally lose all of their hair on the head..only the horseshoe pattern.

Can you get the horseshoe permanently lasered? Marty do you have any past photos or photos of the scars? Just curious! I don't see any scars.

LOL Thank u. Cost me a ton to minimize the scars in front. The back, from the punchhole scras (donor areas for grafts) are there when I shave. I'm not having dermabrasion on those. $2000 for 2 treatments-I have to wear a hat for 2 sessions for 6-8 weeks each. Yes. U can have the horshoe pattern lasered off as long as the hairs arent white/gray.

Word. Are you saying you removed the scar across the top of your head as well?
