Bloody pets went mental last night!
« on: August 20, 2008, 09:33:47 AM »
Our neighbour has an exceptionally friendly cat. He's some sort of posh thing (the cat not the neighbour) and is the size of a small lion (I may exaggerate slightly). When I pull up in the drive, if I don't get out in a hurry he's on my lap purring madly as soon as the door is open. When I tried to pack the car with rubbish to go to the skip this weekend I had to get him out 3 times.

He has now taken to coming into the house occasionally. This is not necessarily a smart move as my dog is huge and territorial. Unfortunately, Bailey (for that is said mog's name) is not the brightest button in the box.

Last night he came in and helped himself to our cat's food. We have a cat flap in the back door, and a whole in the utility room door to keep the dog from harrassing our cat (or ripping off the cat flap which he has done 4 times now). We chucked Bailey out and locked the cat flap, at which point he just started head butting it to get back in.

At 1 this morning all hell broke loose Chez Stumpy.
Our cat was going ape on the landing and the dog was trying to rip the utility door off.

We found Bailey in younger son's room, calmly washing.
Our cat was just outside the door, inflated like a puffer fish and making bizzarre noises.

Dog was downstairs and we found Bailey's friend, a big ginger thing, in the utility unable to get out as the catflap was jammed.

I picked up Bailey (obviously a very small lion) and let both invading cats out, gave them a few seconds head start and then let the dog out.

Younger son says "Why did you bring Bailey into my room?"
Older son never even stirred!

This morning I had to glue the catflap back together and seal it for a few days so that our cat can recover from the shock.

Repeat performance last night, with a different cat!
I think the local neighbourhood moggies think we're running some sort of "open house".
Tonight I leave the cat flap unlocked, and a big bowl of water just inside.

Buy a gun.

Agonizing over what cannot be is an insult to what is.
