Adjusting your shaving technique
« on: August 18, 2008, 07:54:56 PM »
I've been breaking out more frequently lately, mostly on the top.  Witch hazel keeps it under control for the most part.  It finally dawned on me a couple of days ago, that I have a lot less hair on top than I did when I first started shaving -- and perhaps my skin is getting irritated more because there's less  hair to take the brunt of the blade.  For the past couple of days, I've tried applying less pressure when shaving the top, to see if that helps.  I think it is, but it's a little too soon to say for sure.  Has anyone else had to deal with anything like this as the MPB progresses?

I really wish that little bit that's left on top would just go away entirely so I wouldn't have to shave it anymore.   5t*mp

I got a serious case of bald spot vs receeding hair line.  I "try" to limit my passes with the HeadBlade in those areas.

I alternate between witch hazel and aloe vera gel.  This may sound goofy, but if I use one or the other too often, I start to get a slight case of razor bumps.

In other words, a slight change in your post shave routine may help.

Thanks.  I'm still trying to figure out how I ever managed to lose so much hair.    :-\

Both of my brothers, 43 and 50, have really full, thick heads of hair.  They both noticed how fast I was balding and receeding. :(

If I go longer than a day without shaving my head, I can tell it has gotten lots worse since going Sly.  Genetics or luck of the draw, I'm at a loss for a reason. :-\
