Probably because you ate too many MREs in your life... a common side effect with them!   :D

Yeah, I'll give you that one.  Only if the army had navy chow. ??? :'(  Sad the best chow in the army was in Ranger units and when I went to Ranger School we never had time to taste it.  Come to think of it I don't think they really fed us.

it was kinda funny after the storms everyone was getting mre's and thought they were cool. i worked with a guy that was in 1st cav and showed me all the fun crap you can do with the stuff in there. tear gas, etc. but he would not touch the food with a pole. said he had enough of that for a lifetime.

I will say this... the last MRE I ate was crossing through the Straits of Hormuz in '92 coming out of the gulf.  I did eat one while I was in Hawaii last month with the USMC and the quality has drastically improved!!

92 they didn't have the heater back then (not that they make a diff, unless you're in real cold) and had only the 12 menu selection where you knew exactly what you're getting.

The best back then was the Ham Slice... because you got cheese spread and crackers!

I had the enchilada in Hawaii... pretty tasty!

They are usually a hit or miss.  I've been to very good one and not so good.
