Simply Self Satisfied
« on: August 09, 2008, 08:49:48 AM »
I feel bulletproof.

I accept me as I am, wholly, completely, flawed, fumbling, brilliant and beautiful.

No good, no bad, all me.

There are no words, looks, reactions or prejudices that can touch me.

I am simply self satisfied.

I feel so good in my own skin it'd break your heart to know it.

I love my mind and my body and my spirit, not for their flawlessness or perfection, or for what they are or aren't, but for their staggering potential.

I look at me and I see the thousands of me's I can and will be.

Addition by subtraction...

I love this clean, smooth scalp I've uncovered and the stronger new me that I discovered hiding under that hair.

I am in love with the shapes of my flesh and I look forward to the ways my life and my choices will continue to change and craft them.

I can read and remember every smile and tear I've ever experienced, in the lines and creases on my face.

My scars remind me of where I have been and the things I have learned.

I want to thank the weight I've gained and lost and gained and lost over these years of my life, because it has helped me to choose the way I want to look and feel.

I choose to be what, where, how and who I am. Now.

I am so overwhelmed by, and involved in, and in touch with my own personal growth that I can't even see anything but the beauty and potential in you

help me grow, let me help you grow. Share with me what you know and where you've been. What you've seen and done and I will do the same for you. We can each part as better people for having met.

I have such respect for what you are today and what you'll be tomorrow that it never occurs to me to find anything that isn't there. I am blinded and awed and rendered speechless by the brilliance of who you are and who you are becoming.

Who we are  always becoming.

I love me, I respect me and I accept me for who and what I was, am and will be.

I love you, I respect you and I accept you for who and what you were, are and will be.

Now, I can grow.

Acceptance for who and what you are, is a rare achievement.  Knowing the person you want to become is, and taking the steps to be that person is another....I can tell that you are there.....Good Work GRASSHOPPER...

I don't mean it in a rude way, and if you don't like being compared to other people, just know that it was meant as a compliment. Reading the different posts and topics you have made, I can't help but compare elements of what you share from your life and personality to different friends I have in the flesh.

It feels good to be happy with yourself, huh?

Thanks guys, for the positive feedback. Honestly that all sort of flooded out after feeling very very frustrated with the recent "better than you" vibe that has crept into a few threads here.

I realized, all of a sudden that I really don't feel "less than" anyone or like I am "lacking" anything.

it's a weird and comforting thing to realize that NO ONE can insult you, or hurt you verbally, when you understand who and what you are. It's an almost alien kind of strength that comes from just simply NOT applying any meaning or value to that sort of negativity. Totally foreign, yet comfortable.

I hope someone finds some inspiration from it. It made me feel better, just to share it.

BTW J Digory: I take any and all comparisons to anyone you respect as very, very high compliment, and I appreciate it very much. Thank you.
