I don’t like being bald, but that choice if regrowing my hair has been taken away from me.  Those of you who are BBC can grow yours back, some of us can’t.

So no, I don’t like being bald, but I like being SLY.

I love being bald, except when I rush out of the house and forget the sunscreen!  And what I've found out, at least here in Vegas, is that a lot of women like guys who are either bald or have closley cropped hair. They all seem to say that guys with long or highly stylized hair spend more time worrying about their hair than they do. They say that bald or cc guys are lower maintainence and more fun to be with.  Since I've been shaving my head, I've only had one girlfriend who didn't like me bald and needless to say that relationship was short.

I'll be honest, there were times that I was tempted to grow it back... and I did. I'm glad I did that though since it showed me how ridiculous I look with hair and how much happier I am when I'm sly; not to mention get a lot more Ooooh la la  looks from girls  ^-^

Phil is that avatar pic one of the times you've grown it out or do you not shave with a razor?

After a long, long time of shaving my head daily, I still pretty much have a full head of hair. I could still go back to a horseshoe flat top if I wanted.  However, I love being totally bald and the slicker, smoother, shinier, the better.  I like to be thought of as a completely permanently bald man that shaves his head at least once daily to be that way.

That was when I shaved it with an electric razor with no guard. I now shave with a razor and its been smooth sailing ever since. Just need to find a nice updated pic though!

I've thought long and hard before posting to this thread, mostly about what has transpired to bring me to this point.

I went through it all.  When I was a kid and a teenager, my military dad insisted on good grooming, and the "regular" haircut (parted on the left and neatly trimmed and tapered).  i didn't plan on having a combover, its just what happens when the hair in the middle falls out from under the rest of it.  It took me much too long to get disgusted with it, and cut it off, but I still had the horseshoe.

When The cost of a haircut crossed the $10 line, my wife decided to start cutting my hair nlike she did when we were poor college students.  For some reason, she kept cutting it shorter and shorter, until, she surprised me one day and buzzed it without a guard.

I suggested shaving it a couple times, and she resisted because she thought that taking off that last 1/16th would be too radical.

I eventually went ahead and just did it when I was out of town for a few days.  The funny thing is that when I told her I did it, she was somewhat miffed, but when I returned home and she saw it , she said, "I guess it doesn't look THAT bad."

Since then, her only comment has been that she misses doing my haircuts, or if I miss shaving, she mentions it (so, she does notice...).

So, for me, shaving my head is something that evolved over so long a period of time that there are times that I don't really realize that I am bald.  If I hadn't gone MPB, I don't think I would have shaved my head, because things probably wouldn't have followed the chain of events.  I don't know that I feel any different than the next guy, whether he has hair or not.  I am not bald me, I am not hairy me, I am just ME.  And, I like being ME.  And, I am bald.

Zzaapp, man. Great post. I always like hearing about how people got from where they were to where they are now. Thanks for sharing a bit of your story man.

to be honest, if i had a full head of hair, like Cesar Romero or John O'Hurley ("Elaine's boss" on Seinfeld; also was on dancing with the stars;   ... in looking up his real name I found he was born the same year I was ... but I digress ) .....    BUT; I don't have a full head of hair; and with my receding hairline; I look dorky with hair; and shaved I look ;   well ; ... SLY.     I honestly can say that  I think I look better bald; younger; more confident; gives me an extra "something."  So many guys look better shaved than with the few sprouts on top; and I'm one of them .   Ain't never turning back ; it's great to be sly !

I've loved being bald so far.  But a point of self criticism:  If someone on the street asked me the same question, one of my reasons would be that I love looking so unique and get an added sense of individualism from the look.  The thing is though, once I took on this look I immediately sought to become part of a community with the same trait!  How can I be proud and spout uniqueness and individualism when I want to hang out and communicate with other bald dudes all day?

Oh yeah, I like it way better than the alternative (MPB)!  Case in point:  I just returned from a 30-day backpacking trip in the Sierra, and as I pack very light I had no razor.  After 30 days I had one inch long stubble, very little on top but thick on the side and back and I couldn't get to my clippers fast enough.  I actually don't use a razor anymore, I find it much easier to just hit it with no guard on the clippers every couple of days.  I'm just lazy.
