Shaving at the gym

I work out most mornings and so I shower and shave at the gym before heading to work. In the weeks since I've been back to sly, it's been pretty amusing to see and hear the reactions to me lathering up and shaving my head in the locker room.

There are quite a few sly guys that work out when I do, but I've never noticed any of them shaving at the gym. But of course, they've been supportive as hell. One sly guy in particular saw me on my first day after shaving and said "You finally took it all down! It looks great!" Now if he sees even the least stubble (like a Monday morning after I'd skipped a Sunday shave) he'll yell "shave that head!" and I call him a shaggy hippy when he misses a day.

The non-sly guys are much more curious. The older guys who aren't used to this generation of head shavers tend to ask me why I'd do such a thing or tell me I'm crazy.

Young MPB'ers tend to look a few times - obviously thinking that they need to shave theirs soon. One guy who seemed to be early-mid twenties came up to me and said "I always wondered how guys actually do that. I've never seen someone shaving their head." Then he laughed, rubbed his extremely sparse hair on top and said "I keep thinking it's time for me to give up and do it." I told him it's about taking control, not giving up. I did my best to encourage him and I think he's convinced. We'll see..

Other guys just seem to stop and stare while I shave - like it's some freak show. It's very odd. But at the end of it all, I don't mind all the extra attention - I like being the center of attention. It's part of why I love being sly - to stand out in a crowd. (Although with sly getting so popular, it's losing that effect)

Anybody else shave in public places like the locker room? Do you get stares? Comments? Questions?

I shave in the bathhouse when we go camping.  Haven't really noticed any staring and nobodies ever said anything.  Of course a bathhouse in a campground is not really where you go to have a conversation.  lol

I see people shaving their heads in the gym locker room all the time.  Nobody ever takes any notice.

I walk around naked and shave between sets on the bench at my gym.   Not really but I could since my gym is at home.  Anyhow I've never shaved anywhere public except at work which isn't any big deal.

I need to get back on my workout track....but no, I am not one who walks around naked in the locker room. in my case, it would be kind of scary!  Just only in the shower.  But I could wear my gym clothes in the shower and really see if they are "wash and wear"!

Hey, Seal - I know this takes us way off topic, but what's wrong with being naked in a locker room? Isn't that the purpose of a locker room - to shower, change, etc.? I'm not saying I parade around that way or stand naked at the sink for 5 minutes while I shave (I wrap a towel around my waist), but I'll walk to the shower in the raw. And I change clothes out in the open. I never give it any thought.

When did nudity in a locker room become a problem - especially with younger guys? I always get a chuckle at the huge effort that guys put in  trying to put their underwear on without taking off their towel. Relax, fellas! Nobody's looking. Nobody cares.

Some do parade around naked and stand naked at the sink while they shave (yuck!) and they're always the ones who really shouldn't.

You definitely see strange things there.  Old men fixing their combovers, guys as bald as I am with hairdryers  , and not to mention the ones that stand there and dry their um, boys, with the hot air hand dryer.
