Hello! I’m glad I found this board. I always knew bald is better. Good to see everyone here agrees. Maybe you can help.
Has any of you ever tried to help a friend with MPB? My best buddy has advanced MPB and it really bothers him. Of course, I keep telling him it’s no big deal and it still looks good and so on. To make his life easier I suggested that he just shave his head. To me, that seems the best solution. Didn’t help, I have a full head of hair and he says I don’t know what I’m talking about.
So, my question. Do you have any success stories to share? Things you enjoyed after you shaved your head but not before? Like, walking in the rain, not wearing hats all the time? I would like to collect some examples for him how good it can feel if you’re no longer balding but really bald. (At least I think it does, but what do I know?)
I’m new to boards, I hope this shows up where it should. Sorry if it doesn’t.
Thanks,
Mike

Get him on this board ASAP.
This is a great group of guys (and gals) that love being bald and/or shaved. I personally do not have MPB I am bald by choice (BBC). There are a lot of guys on here though that have experienced MPB and some that are experiencing it now.
Get him on here. Walking in the rain, no need for shampoo, and all kinds of good things about being bald. Good Luck and we look forward to meeting him.

I would say, it's better for his confidence to shave it off than trying to hide it or if it bothers him. I can think that he is having a hard time being the person he want and that he feels hopeless about the situation right now. Tell him that you are his friend no matter what and that his confidence shouldn't be lying in his hair or in that cap!
And like GASlick said, say he should come and visit this site! It will absolutely give him some perspective on the problem he is going through.

Thanks for all your responses. I already told my friend about this board. He may not admit it but I hope he’s lurking.

Tell him that you'll shave your head if he shaves his -- and then both of you have to agree to stay shaved for at least a month. When the month is up, he probably won't want to go back to having hair. You might not, either.

Funny idea, never thought of that. I’m already working on the details ...
I may not be brave enough to go from full head of hair to sly. On the other hand, I always say it wouldn’t bother me if I went bald so maybe it’s time to try and also to show my balding bud I mean it.
I will think about it.

As the other brothers said.... this Forun is full of success stories of every type. Individuals on here have encoouraged, counseled, and helped guys to make this decision. This is THE place to get real, unbiased help.
I had MPB.... but it never really bothered me. I finally just got sick of having to deal with the little hair I had left.
Mike.......... you can have your friend PM me if he would like.

Unbiased?? I think that this is the most biased place on the web, biased in favour of the right decision, to go sly rather than stay balding. I have been on here for getting on two years now, seen plenty of before and afters and am yet to see a single person who didnt look better sly than balding. But Mike is right this is the place to be for any support, advice, motivation etc. I hope he is lurking there are some inspirational stories on here that certainly have and are helping me through losing my luscious locks!

It's the best way to show him that it isn't really a big deal -- and he won't feel like he's going through it alone. It's only hair; it grows back. Remember that you can get that full head of hair back anytime you want. Your friend can't.
