Matte Moisturizer Shootout
« on: July 24, 2008, 08:57:49 AM »
Since I'm a fan of the 'no gloss' look I started a little product shootout with pictures demonstrating the effects of each one I try.

Feel free to have a look if you're interested.

Yeah, definitely the leader based on what I've sampled so far...

Thanks for the comment, I hope to get the full reviews done soon - just swamped lately.

Lucky, that is great.  How long after shaving were those photos taken. Did you think the headlube lasted well?

I'd say roughly 3-4 hours after the application... Good thought there, Argyle - maybe the next topic on this will be the durability shootout of the top 3?

:)

Lookin' great sly there by the way man... great photo too!

Thanks Lucky,

The other product I have used is L'Oreal Matte for Men.  Over here it is about £5 a tube, but i always think that has an impact.  Not sure about durability though.

Hey Lucky, I had one question. How does the Headlube feel on your head? In terms of greasy-ness/stickiness?

Argyle:
If you're using it in that pic I think it works great, I was going to comment on how I liked the matte look in your photo, suits you well. I will see if I can find that L'Oreal product in the US and give it a go.

BJR:
I was definitely pleased with it but think I used too much (this is my first time using it). It's pretty thick, like a sunscreen really... but not greasy or sticky at all. Feels like a quality moisturizer and no burn either. Took me about a minute to get it worked in this morning, but again that could be due to excess product. If that's the case, a little goes a LONG way because I didn't use much at all, maybe a dime size at the most.

Nothing at all in that pic, although i was next to a window so no need to overhead lighting.  I think office lights are fairly unforgiving.

Yeah, the halogens are brutal when it comes to glare... In fact professional automotive detailers use halogen lighting to examine paint for scratches... you can't hide anything from them haha.

Glad I was wearing my Shades when I looked at your shootout competition lol. Got to admit I liked the matte look. Dont think we can buy that in the UK or can we?

You might be able to buy it online at Headblade's website...not sure if they ship across the pond, though

You're more than welcome to post your reviews directly on the forum, but spamming your link to your website all over SBG is against posting rules.

Just so people reading this don't think I came here to 'spam' the board, I have 132 posts in under 2 months of being here, the other 130 should reflect more of my intent here, which is to learn and help where I can.

I posted the link only twice... once for a new razor I wrote about and once for this ;)

Definitely not like I went all over the forum posting the link to my site randomly... simply not the case, it was two times and both were on the topic of the forum they were posted/started in.

Hopefully this is all water under the bridge now, but I did feel the need to clear my name a little. You have a kickin' site here Tyler, I truly enjoy it, as well as the people/atmosphere. In fact it inspired me to write about my experiences - and that is the soul of my site, really. After all, there is not one ad, and not one single item for sale, it's just something I enjoy doing.

As you know, I have a lot of sites... I guess it's a habit for me to start a site when I have a new interest. Trucks, geocaching, shaving my head... in the end, it's all for fun and enjoyment, period.

For me it doesn't matter if I have 0 visitors or 5000, I do it for me and if someone else happens to enjoy it that is an added bonus.

 O0

All the best,
Lucky
