And Im not sure if this is normal or not.
I shaved my head for the first time the other night. Was kinda spur of the moment, so all i did was throw some shaving cream on my head (was cut down by clippers the day before), opened a new razor and started shaving. Well, I honestly loved the look of it. But here is the weird part. It felt almost like it was numb until I got hair stubbles back.
So, is this normal? I mean do all guys with shaved heads walk around with thier scalps feeling numb, or am I a freak of nature and need to talk to a doctor heh. If it is normal (for all or some) does the feeling ever come back, or is it just something you get use to, or is it different for everyone.
Like I said, I loved the look, and if I can figure out a way to were my head isnt numb, Id love to keep it that way.
Thanks
-Erik

Hi and welcome Erik!
To answer your question, yes, the first couple times you shave your head it will feel weird, possibly like a numbness (one person here described it as feeling like sushi!)... but that goes away as your scalp gets used to being fully exposed and shaved!
Once again, welcome to the forums and if you have any other questions, feel free to post them up!

Erik!....Welcome, mate!
Very interesting. I'm shaving my noggin for the first time tomorrow (Sunday 1/14). I'll let you know if I experience the same sensation.
I'm really looking forward to the sensory overload that many report.
Glad to have ya and look forward to getting to know you if you can spend more time with us.
Post a pic if you can.

I remember that numb feeling
I always enjoyed it. Unfortunately it goes away when you shave consistently.

Welcome Erik! So, yes, it is normal the first few times, especially if your hair is a bit longer when you first do it.
P.S. I did your screen name!

Oh...YEAH....it's numb....WEIRD numb....like I'm wearin' a sheet of celophane (plastic wrap). It does feel like sushi, man.
It's snowing right now....think I'll go out and trip out a little.

MMMMMMM Uncooked fish.
Oh yeah, congrats on your new shave. Shaving for the first time is a lot like buying new underwear. After a couple of washes it just feels right!
