Burned out
« on: July 20, 2008, 07:19:30 PM »
My sly brothers, I have a question. How do you combat burnout at work? I love my job and the life style that goes with it, but i'm sick of going into the same grey box everyday. Does anyone else feel or get this way? I don't want to change jobs but dam am I burnt.

Sounds like you are in need of a vacation.  Take a week off, go somewhere you have never been before and no body knows your name.  Have a good time and unwind.

Me personally, I hitch up the RV pack a couple of 30 packs of beer, a couple of steaks and a few cigars and  find a nice quiet campsite and have a "Stephen Weekend"

No wife or kids. Just me doing whatever, whenever and however I want to.

I am looking forward to getting away and hanging out in Chicago. That will be a big help, no phone calls and no emails from work for 5 days.

GA I have had a couple of days here and there but this coming weekend is the first true vacation I've had in at least 3 years.

Stephen: I think this is a great idea. Seems like "alone" time to regroup, focus and just relax is a rare thing these days. Preferably somewhere out of cell phone range!

Oh yeah.  Tell my wife that I'm going to "find Stephen".  She says OK, be careful and have a good time.  The only thing she asks is that I tell her where I'm going.  That's a fair request.  I do it a couple of times a year.  I usually hit a state park close by.
I am big on alone time.  I think it is healthy.
