Weather forecast
« on: July 16, 2008, 03:00:11 AM »
How bloody useless is the BBC's weather forecast?
There's no point in a weather service that changes the forecast every hour.  I can look out of the window as well as the next man.

What's more, why is the first 5 minutes of the weather forecast dedicated to telling us what it was like today?  Even with my advanced degree of senility I can generally remember that far back.  I suppose that if they do a recap of the past day, at least 50% of what they cover will be accurate.

Is any weather forecast service any better?

Sorry, rant over.
Normal service will be resumed shortly.

:*)) I know what you mean.  I find that the weather network here is like that.  I actually find the environment Canada weather to be quite accurate though, which is surprising considering it's Government run.

Dave, did you get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning?  ;D

I had a little discussion about the weather with someone else last night   :) :@`
we agreed that they're pretty much useless.

I've also noticed that when they give a forecast, they use the words
'possible'  and 'might' a lot more often than they used to.  :)

around here if they say 20% chance of rain....really they mean 100%.  If they say 80% chance of Rain...what they mean is a slight chance.  Never really listen to the weather...because like everyone else...I can look out side...lick my finger, hold it up in the air and tell you better then they can.

Here is what I use....

I always lok outside and if it looks good out its gonna be nice. If there are gray clouds there is a chance that the rain will hit us. Now that its summer its gonna be hot til mid-September so I dont have to worry about rain when doing hay. It seems that whatever the weatherman says is the opposite of what will happen, lol.

I've found what they predict for this area (Vancouver, wa)...is always pretty accurate...

and no, not when they always just say rain! ;)

I trust only the SLY Cantore for weather!

Here if they say it will be sunny and warm, they mean it is summer and they don't think that it is going to snow.  If they say it is going to be cold and cloudy, they mean fall has arrived and get used to it because it is going to be cold and cloudy for the next nine months.
