Hey Birdman...in the states, most people add chlorine to their pools, and the water is filtered. That helps keep it clean and clear!

Friend of mine had the same problem. I would recommend calling a professional service and have them look at it. Or if you wanna go about it a little cheaper, you could try shocking the system with heavy duty chemicals.

Thats an easy fix my friend. i'm a pool guy :)
The first thing you should do is clean or backwash the filter. then, if the water itself is green, add about 4lbs of shock, then get a pool brush and scrub the entire pool to expose all of the algae. Chlorine will kill the algae, but the most important thing you need to do is balance the chemicals. Once the water is balanced, add stabilizer (cyanuric acid). You should buy a 50lb buket of shock (it has a higher concestration of chlorine). if you add 1lb of shock after every time it rains and keep the ph and alkalinity levels right, you will rarely have a green pool. Pools are a ton of work, but if you keep up with them it's not too hard to keep the water crystal clear. You may also be having a problem with your filter. try to upgrade to a larger D.E. filter and possibly a larger pump (depending on the size of your plumbing)... hope that helps

I had a pool in my last house.

As said above, a lot of work but keeping it clean is much easier than cleaning it.

Yeah, what Ice said.  I have a pool and love it.  Keeping a pool clean is a lot easier that getting a pool clean.

Follow Ice's advise.  My pool is great most of the time, but when it goes bad, it goes bad in a hurry.

good luck!
