Bad Idea

I went on a backpacking trip this weekend, and after the first night I really wanted to shave my head. So I dunked my head in the lake, which was still mostly covered in ice, and started shaving. After about 2 minutes I lost feeling in my head and I started to cut myself .
After the shave, I was putting on a sweatshirt and I dislocated my shoulder, so we had to cut the trip short.

I don't recommend shaving your head in ice water, and also, isn't it July? Why is there still ice on the lakes?

Where did you go and see ice on a lake?
Your shoulder is better now?

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Just mark it up to another lesson learned on things not to do in the future. Hope you're feeling better.

Well not the shoulder isn't better, I will actually need surgery on it in the next few months.
The lake was in a wilderness area up here in Montana called Jewel Basin

Sounds like a really bad day. Sorry, no offense, but I laughed like hell when I read this. I've had such days myself.

Oh man! Sorry that your trip was messed up. I use to shave a lot in the "field" and d always heated my water on a high-tech white gas camping stove. Use to get some slick headshaves that way...

Sorry about the bad trip. I agree with skinhead, but backpacking, you probably didn't have a camp stove. Good luck with your shoulder bro.

A small alcohol stove weighs almost nothing and is an essential in any backpack.

about the stove, I did have one, but I am one of those ultralight backpackers and I was rationing my fuel as I had only packed enough for four meals. little to my knowledge when I shaved I would only need fuel for two.
