You have to wonder how he was ever able to go out in public looking like this.  Take a look at this clip and bear in mind that he was only 28 years old when The Commish started and he was 32 when it ended:

It's kind of an extreme example, but it's one you need to keep in mind if you're trying to decide if shaved or MPB-fringe is a better look for you.  'Cause you want to avoid the "before" look at all costs!

I used to the watch Commish, and I had no idea he was that young.  He must cringe nowadays when he sees pictures of his old self.  What a horrible look!  He is definitely rockin' it now.

Yes, if it were me I think I'd try to buy as many copies of those old Commish tapes as possible and burn them all.

Bad as that looked, it was all part of what made The Commish such a lovable teddy-bear of a guy and got Chiklis onto the radar. And, at least according to Wikipedia, that wasn't natural, but a result of injudicious use of grease-paint for an earlier role.

And talk about range: it's hard to imaging two more diametrically opposed character portrayals than The Commish and Vick Mackey. Not to mention his stints as The Thing in the Fantastic Four movies.
