My son, Kody, is 11 years old. Well yesterday my wife took him for a hair cut. He has what i call a regular boys haircut usually just gets a little trim. Wellthe lady asked him if he wanted to cut it down to a #2 for Summer and he said no. my wife immediately said, "Kody let her cut it shorter for the Summer". And he responded, "I know mom but i want a #1 so it's even shorter". My wife was shocked!
Well he got his #1 cut and he looks pretty sharp. Man he and i laughed when i saw him!!!!!
Both my boys, 7 and 9 won't get their hair cut short in the summer. They have that "Hockey Hair." During summer baseball they are sweatin' their butts off and I just sit there and say you'd be much cooler with shorter hair during the summer. What do I know, I'm just Dad.
Awww, little dude wants to look like dad!

Same with my oldest son Patrick. Refuses to get a summer crew cut. I've given up battling with him on this issue. He's stubborn as a mule. Mike you're lucky that your son is a chip off the old block. Mine takes after my wife's father. There's no winning an argument with that guy.
Yeah... I figure this is a good primer for when he gets a little older and MPB hits him...... as it surely will since it strikes all the men in our family.
Speaking of summer, the biggest downside to being sly, is that a hardhat tends to irritate my scalp when I start sweating, and unless i keep my doorag wet, I overheat quickly
But, the short hair is real nice in the summer and your son made a wise choice, I buzzed my hair with a #2 when I was his age
