2 anyone who drives a big truck, suv...
« on: June 13, 2008, 08:40:51 PM »
hello fellow chrome domes:   i wanted 2 hear from my fellow chrome domes who own a big truck or big suv.  basically... i wanted 2 know if U plan on keeping your vehicle or plan on exchanging it with something smaller like a V6 vehicle.  with the outrageously high gas prices... i can only imagine how much U spend on gas.

so... if U own a big suv or big truck... do U plan on keeping it?  or do U plan on trading it in 4 something smaller?  what's your story?

I love my Grand Cherokee ... I'm just probably moving closer to work

The cost of trading in an SUV for a smaller, more fuel efficient vehicle could offset the savings from lower gas consumption.  Be careful and crunch all the numbers before making a decision.

I have a 2004 Silverado Z71 and I don't plan on getting rid of it.  I only have 2 more yrs on the payments and it will be mine.

That aside, I love my truck!   Why get rid of something you love?

I have a 2007 Toyota Sequoia with a big V8.  At this point it costs about $90 to fill-up, which lasts almost 1 week.   I'm planning to keep it for now, but will trade in for something smaller in a few years.

I want to go bigger than my explorer because of all the things I carry with me. I wouldn't evan think about it if my company didn't pay for my gas.

I'm keeping my 98 Izuzu Trooper. Though I don't put many miles on it anymore since I walk or bike to work everyday.

Until very recently I drove a '95 Bronco with a 5.0 litre V-8, got about 17 mpg. Not bad mileage for a larger truck but 3 weeks ago I traded it on a '03 Subaru Legacy wagon. I am getting about 27 mpg with it. I haven't computed the gas savings but my truck was showing its age. When gas hits $5 (or maybe $10) down the road I don't know if it matters much if I have the truck or the more efficient wagon, it's gonna be a big pain in the a$$ to fill up.  :Xo!

I don't drive a truck, but many of my friends tried to trade theirs in and the dealer couldn't make them a deal.  The big trucks aren't moving, so they aren't anxious to take them off people's hands.

I have always been a lover of small economy cars and now my passion for the little guys is paying off.

dude my uncle right now has a really clean, nice Metro as his commuter car. I am so freaking jealous of him. He has it really nice too. Tinted windows, stereo, He keeps it super clean. He drives it all highway to his job and he says he pushes 45 MPG.

Gotts love the 3 banger!

My father-in-law is on his 2nd one.  The first was a 92.  This one is (I think) 98 or 99.  He loves it.  Uses it when he's not driving his full-size chevy pick-up.

We have a '02 Suburban that we use for hauling the trailer and the wife uses for her daily 2 mile trek to work.... We're keeping it.
