• I'm glad that there's a forum with people who've decided to put their hairstyle woes to rest. After a stint in the USMC, I've pretty much kept my hair at 1/8", with the exception of a year or so in Denver when I messed around with the color and style. So, it wasn't to hard of a decision to shave it, although my fiance expressed some concerns about doing it. About a week ago I started indicating to her that I was becoming more and more serious about doing it, and last night took the plunge. Now I'm starting out with a clean pate, and not much of an idea of how to continue.. LOL  I've already gotten some good advice from this forum. I'm glad to see most people are using the HeadBlade and getting good results. I have an original headblade (w/o the wheels, just a rear pad), and was glad that the mounting style for the blades hadn't changed. I do have one question though.. I have what appears to be razor burn on some of the freshly saved portions of my head, and wanted to know if there was a general timeframe for those to clear up. Ditto for the sensitivity.. And i guess I'd like to know if my head will ever move freely on my pillow again... LOL  So, thanks for the forum, and I hope to share some good advice and stories on here..
  
  PS... Looks like I forgot to throw out some personal info, so here goes..  I'm 31, a free Marine, and live in NW Washington state.. I basically just graduated with a CIS degree (got one online course this summer for an elective), and am about to embark upon an entirely new career path from what I'm used to. I have a fiance, a dog (Ozzie) and we all like to hit the mountains as often as we can to camp. We just bought a house last summer, and this summer i get to do all the DIY I can handle. I'm originally from TN, so if anyone wants to chat about the South, drop me a line. And if you want to clue me in on some nice camping in the NW, i'm all ears for that to..

• TekGod, welcome to Sly Bald Guys.  If you're getting bumps/irritation then something needs to change.  Either your using too much pressure on the blades, you need a different shaving cream/gel, or both.

• Honestly, I was using regular soap lather to shave, but after reading the info on here, I grabbed some HeadSlick and Bald Guyz moisture gel.. My fiance donated some of the St Ives Apricot Scrub i think SimplyRed was talking about.... Hopefully, that'll fix it..

• First off, welcome TekGod!  You definitely found the right place.
  
  For your razor burn, there are a lot of different things you can try, but if I may suggest (being the pasty white former redhead with extremely sensitive skin I've experimented a lot) try the Razor Relief from the Body Shop.  That works really well for me, and another thing I have recently discovered and will keep using now is Proraso pre-shaving cream.  I started using that about a week ago and since then I haven't had one incident of razor burn and I have the perfect shave every time with it.  Anyway, Good luck with that and enjoy this place, I know I have!

• tekgod:  welcome 2 the sly fraternity.  glad that ya found us.   4 your razor burn... U might want 2 spray rubbing alcohol on your blades after a couple of passes as U R shaving.   i bought a small 2oz spray bottle at walmart for only 50cents.  a bottle of rubbing alcohol is less than $2.  U can find the spray bottle in the travel-size section...where the travel-size soaps, lotions, mouthwash, etc.  also... after your shave U might want 2 apply tn dickinson witch hazel (thanks jdog) on the dome.  this should help decrease irritation and razor burn.

• Welcome, its nice to have another person in WA. I am on the eastern side of the state, just north of Spokane. For some nice camping, I cant really help you with camping on your side of the state but over here there are tons of lakes. We have a lake cabin on Hayden Lake which is in North Idaho and the camping there is great. When we do go camping we go to lakes for swimming and fishing or hunting. I think there are some SBG's over on your side of the state that can help with more local camping spots.

  Hey glad you are here and this place is full of info.  Everyone is different so keep that in mind.  The feeling of your head moving freely across ya pillow...it will....its coming..just give it some time.  You just arent use to the feeling yet.  Your head will move alot more freely if you keep it smooth! Glad you found us and that we may have given you the gumption to just SHAVE THAT SLICK NOGGIN CLEAN! ....Thumbs up bro.
