For me it's Imagine by John Lennon...... and a rather odd choice...... Mr. Bojangles (I think the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band).
Both songs were the favorites of my best friend in college, Frank. Frank was murdered at the age of 19 on a hot Summer night in Baltimore, Maryland in a road rage incident.
I knew Frank in high school and never liked him. But lo and behold, when I went to college after my Senior year in high school, who was the only person i knew... Frank. We became best friends. It turns out I had judged him harshly in high school. He pretty much had his ducks in a row even at the age of 18. Did a lot of work with under privileged kids. He was from a great family. He was taken from us much too early.
The memory of me holding his mother and hugging her the day of his funeral stays fresh in my mind. I have a little guilt because i have never been able to bring myself to visit his grave site since the day of his funeral.
Not a week goes by that I don't think of Frank. I loved him like a brother and even 29 years later I miss him. When I hear either of those two songs I smile and think of Frank......
Sorry for the thread hijacking..........

Music is a huge part of my life - it truly is the universal language and so many songs stir emotion in me.
We Let The Stars Go Free - Prefab Sprout
Fields of Gold - Eva Cassidy (the original by Sting moves me as well)
Tank Park Salute - Billy Bragg
Unplayed Piano - Damien Rice
Regards,
Matthew

Wind beneath my wings
My 16 year old niece sang this at her 22 year old brother's funeral - not a dry eye in the chapel. It gives me shivers thinking about it.
God only know - Beach Boys
I can't help thinking about my wife and smiling whenever I hear this.

My wife is a big Eva Cassidy fan, so sad that she is gone, she had such a beautiful voice.
Wade in the Water is a great song.

Another song that gets to me is "The dad he didnt have to be" by Brad Paisley, My biological father wasn't always in the picture and my (step) dad raised me and my older sister like we were his own, and if you haven't heard the song before there is a part in it about the kid having a child of his own and his "dad" was with him the whole way and it just gets to me now since I have a child of my own, and I cant imagine never being there for her.

Louie really owns that song... Eva does it great but I would have to go with Louie on that one.
