Well the Little League Season is winding down. We have a team in our 9 & 10 year old age Division called the Angels. The Manager of that team has had a tough year. He started with 12 kids and one kid quit pretty early in th year... just didn't like baseball.then he had another kid quit because one of the coaches on the team was always screaming at the kids. We removed that coach form the team so he took his two kids out of the League (great kids, a$$hole father). So now the team was down to eight kids.
Well the manager called me a little over a week ago and we were trying to figure out how to get him enough players to finish his last four games. We spoke about it and i told him to let me think of some solutions and I'd call him back the next day.
Well my son Kody heard the conversation apparently and when i hung up he looked at me and said, "Daddy, is Coach Larry going to have to cancel the rest of his games?" i told him that we were trying to work something out so that wouldn't happen. Then he asked, "Does he need more players?" I told him yes. He didn't say anything for a few minutes but I could tell he was thinking about it. Then he asked me, "What if I finished the Season on Coach Larry's team so he and the rest of the kids can play?"
Well I was shocked. First because he plays for me but secondly that he would even think of that. So I said, 'You know this means I won't get to coach you the rest of the year. And this will probably be my last year coaching you". He responded, "I know Daddy but Coach Larry's team needs somebody".
I smiled and said, "OK, let's go call Coach Larry". Needless to say, I'm awfully proud of my little man.
