I've started this thread as an offshoot of Warhawk's shirt, tie and suit thread. Now that the weather's getting hotter and more humid by the day I was wondering if any of you wear shorts to your work place.

As a service to all, here are the rules for wearing Bermuda shorts:

1. Absolutely no Bermuda shorts with a blazer - don't even think
about wearing this to work. You might as well just wear your boxer shorts as they have the same effect.
2. PLEASE, do not pair them with knee high socks and dress shoes or loafers.
3. DO NOT sport your bare feet in loafers while wearing Bermudas (refer to #2 regarding socks).
4. I know it’s hard to hear, but you cannot, and I repeat CANNOT wear them with a cardigan sweater.
5. Ditch the jean short Bermudas, please...I can’t beg you enough. If these become popular again, I am seriously gonna cry (the way I did when I saw the Water Horse).

But there is hope. Here are the circumstances in which you MAY wear them:

1. You carry a man purse.
2. You are over 55 and live in Florida or Arizona.
3. You are younger than 18.
4. You are a member of the British Military
5. You golf or play tennis (yeah, it’s okay Dad)
6. You live in Bermuda (seriously, it is the Male dress code - they wear them 3 inches above the knee and this is the trend origin).



Stay cool and remember NOT to dress like a fool!

hey rafter!  btw...good post.  as far as keeping cool in the workplace... i don't have the luxury 2 wear the shorts in my workplace.  i wear the same white nursing uniform at the hospital.  one good thing about uniforms is that U don't have 2 "think" about what 2 wear.  another good thing  about working at the hospital... the indoor temperature is ALWAYS cool.

Warhawk's got it right on about the uniform and not having to think about what to wear.  I'm pretty envious of him though getting to work in a climate controlled environment.  I'm stuck wearing thick navy blue polyester pants, short sleeved shirt, tactical boots, 30lb duty belt and 30lb bullet proof vest.  It gets pretty hot and let me tell you, kevlar doesn't breath so it gets really hot, although it sure helps keep in the warmth on those cold winter days.

Just please do me a  favor, when wearing the white uniform...keep in mind....what color underwear you have on or dont have on....because they do show thru...trust me I know.  White uniforms even let people know that you dotn have any undies on too..

jeans and a uniform shirt. maybe a tshirt on the weekends. but i do tend to spend alot of my time inside so ac is a good thing. when i am not at work though, i wear shorts unless i am going somewhere. then it is usually jeans and a t-shirt.

I get to wear the same clothes all year round for work:
Suit, shirt, tie

At least women get to vary their office attire a bit and can lighten up a little in summer. 
Maybe I'm just really conservative and dull.  Maybe I'm turning into my father!  EEEEK!

wear the same outdoors in the summer.  Can't say that I have the luxury of keeping cool, but i can carry almost a gallon of water in my surveying vest, so all is well.

I've got live 12 pockets on that puppy.  and one GIANT bellows pocket on the back, you could hide Rhode Island in there
