What's with the infomercials
« on: June 04, 2008, 07:59:45 AM »
So last Saturday my wife was gone and I came in from mowing the lawn and thought I would flip on the TV and have a drink.... (ok we get a total of 4 channels because we recently cancelled our cable and are in the process of going to something else)  I turn on the first Channel.  "Are you tired of being bald, you don't have to go through life being bald...." then I switched the channel to the second channel "You don't have to be ashamed anymore, you don't have to take life laying down get you can grab life by the horns we have a cure for baldness..."

I am secure and confident with being bald and have no problems with it but man these infomercials are ridiculous.  They go on and on about how terrible and life destroying it is to be going bald and how society looks down on bald people.  It was filled with garbage.

I couldn't help but think about how bad they try to make people feel about their looks.  I think headblade or one of the other companies needs to counter with an "Embrace Baldness campaign" :)

I just wanted to holler at anyone who have seen those and might feel bad...Don't life is fun bald, once you shave it smooth!

Yak, the high irony is that this very forum has advertising banners for hair restoration.  I know SlyBaldGuys.com has no control over this, but it's still bizarre.

Off topic: yesterday I saw a banner ad on this forum for GayChubbyDating.  Maybe I'll start a site for SlyGayDating LOL.

Don't just stop at Bald infomercials. I could make a list from erectile dysfunction to vaginal itch. Gimme a break.

It really is sad, how society is so focussed on appearances.  I usually just laugh when I see all these ads for the miracle cure for baldness, lose 10lbs a day diet, get a toned muscular body while you sit on your a$$.
Why can't people be happy with how they look?  Oddly enough, I was borderline one of those until I went sly and really felt the freedom, and the feeling truly was the same as everyone describes it here and that was before I found this site.
Now, HELL, I'm proud to be bald, not wanting to do do advanced calculus to find out if I can eat that cookie cause there are too many carbs or whatever, and finally, I'm proud of my gut and the way I see it, if you go to a party, what would you rather bring, a 6-pack or a keg?

have you noticed that all the commercials for diet plans always have the little text at the bottom that say "Results not typical"?

I would bet that all the hair loss commercials have a similar disclaimer.
