how was your Memorial Weekend?
« on: May 26, 2008, 09:52:53 PM »
Hey all, well another Memorial Day has come and gone...so how did you all spend it?
Mine started on friday with the graduating of my daughter from the 8th grade.  She went to the school dance afterwards and the wife and I went out to eat with few friends.  We sat at the mexican restaurant and drank 3 pitchers of margarittas...damn they were good.  Bout the only drink I will drink with Ta Kill Ya...ended up feeling pretty good that evening.  Saturday we had high school graduation where my boss his son was valedictorian with a 3.99 grade average.  Had 3 open houses to go to after that and you bet your ass I hit every one of them...free food and drinks....right on! O0

Sunday we had a big cook out at my brothers house.  It was ok....he was being his typical self and only speaking to a select few...to him it was the ones who mattered...Oh well ...He supplied the food...so of course I ate it too.  Went to our neighbors boat club later that afternoon, and had only planned on staying until dark.  We got talked into stayign the night in an extra tent they had.  We were not prepared to camp out...as we only came with our clothes on our backs....and going home wasnt an option cause ti was 34-40 minutes away..and wouldnt have been worth it.  So we stayed.  I have never been to a party where there was so many mulls and 4 wheelers in my life. My wife made the comment that it made her feel like a country girl again, as this was her stomping grounds when she was growing up.  Redneck city...lol.  She knew everyone and I only knew a handful, but knew everyone by the end of the night..lol.  Finally around 3 we decided to call it a night and crashed in the tent on a thin as hell foam pad laying on the ground.  ROUGH NIGHT!  It started thundering and lightening ..but I didnt care..i wasnt moving.  Got woke up around 7 am with I think every damn bird in north america surrounding our tent....all was quiet other than the birds and finally I had enough and hollered....SHUT THE f**k UP BIRDS!  I got some chuckles from the neighboring tents and campers LOL.

Today was spent in the house as it rained most of the day.  I did manage to get a shower, cook some steaks on the grill and a 4 hour nap.  So what all did you do for the weekend?

Mine was ok. I was nostalgic. I miss my mom and dad.  I miss being in a relationship. I spent it feeling sorry for myself. But hey... nothing new!

We had a great camping trip. Four days at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Enjoyed time with family this weekend at my godson/nephews high school graduation.  Memorial day spent with vet friends at ceremonies, then getting overserved together.  Great weather and great weekend.

Fun, the Greek Fest at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral--a great eating feast on Friday, Saturday a suprise birthday party for a contemporary who is aging very gracefully, Sunday, lounging, eating left overs brought home from the Greek Fest and watching movies--damn flat screen is taking all the "flat" out of my abs [but there wasn't much flat there to begin with], Monday another day w/ the Wine Guys, my wine drinking group.  Great wines from Australia, McLare [I think] Valley and a couple of bottles of 1990 Penfolds St Henri--perhaps my favorite wine w/ a couple of bottles of bubbly to start--we paired w/ great hamburgers and fixings.  A pretty good weekend, and we're dragging it into tonight when my daughter's future in-laws are having us over to grill some fish he caught this weekend.  Oink, Oink, Oink.  Next we work on getting some "flat" back, but this is Louisiana.  First things First.

Good to see some people had a good long weekend.  Ours was the week before here in Canada, Victoria Day weekend.  I was off work for that and had a blast hitting the beach.  Then went got a few new tats and after was when I got that bad burn on my head.  All in all a good start to the summer season though.

For your long weekend though I had a blast.  I may have been working, but it's always fun on long weekends cause my field of law enforcement  it's dead with nothing to do so I basically kicked back in the office doing nothing and just screwing around joking about everything and everyone like usual.  Then Sunday morning went back to the tattoo parlor for another 4 hours of work.  Yeah, I know, just maybe a little addicted.

Hope you others that had to work at least get some other time off in the summer, but here's one person who, being essential services, understands and knows what it's like to work holidays and long weekends.  It's not always pleasant to have to work while others are off doing their family thing or fun time with friends, but someones got to do it.  Anyway, cheers everyone!!!

We took my daughter up to visit my parents.  I got a round of golf in with my dad, so that was awesome!

I worked Friday night and woke up around noon Saturday.  The wife and I did some laundry, mowed the yard, vacuumed out the pool, etc........
Sunday after church we went out back to the pool and spent the afternoon.  Monday, me and the kids went out to the pool about 10:30 am.  My wife deicded to clean the house.  Got some lunch around noon.  About 4:30, my wife brought me four chicken halfs, a bag of charcoal and three beers.  "Here, can you cook supper please?"  You bet!  Didn't put anything but my swim suit and flipflops all day.  Awsome!

LOVE having a pool!!!!

I did step on a pine cone last week and spent almost an hour digging those sharp burs out of my foot.  You want to hear some language?!
