« on: May 25, 2008, 02:32:12 AM »
while i am sitting here working the nightshift i was wondering, what kinda hours does everyone work? i work 7 days in a row and then am off 7 days in a row. 12 hour shifts each work day. we rotate 1 week of days and then the next week is nights. gets long sometimes but really isn't bad. so that is my story, what is yours?

I used to work work 3 shifts:

8-430
9-6
12-9
They would be stagered on a weekly basis.

After our departments got amalgamated, I work 1 shift now, 9-6. Kinda sucks as I am home for only an hour before the little one has to go to bed but it's not forever.

For 3 years I worked 3rd shift at Whirlpool dishwasher plant. It was tough to get used to but the job paid very well.

I know a few guys who work a similar type shift Paulie, One friend of mine works in the Iron Ore mines in Western Australia and does the same thing you do only 2 weeks on ,2 weeks off. I dont know how you do it.

As a trucker my hours vary, but as I do a lot of over sized loads I mostly work from sun up to sun down, normally 7 days a week until I get back home again. I usually out for three or four weeks and then return home for a week to ten days.

This last time I was out for three months so I could afford to say home for a little over two weeks to help out with my mother following her throat cancer surgery. I'll be hitting the road again next week.

Being a recruiter, I kind of make my own schedule. But normally I get into work about 0930 and leave about 5:30-6:00. Sometimes there are situations where I wont get home until 9 though.

I work from 7-3 most days. When I was younger I worked at a dairy that milked 3 times a day, the morning shift was 3:30-8, noon shift was 11-3 then ight was 8-1:30, different shifts had different things other than milking like feeding calves, shoveling feed, etc.

I work 18 days, 11.25 a day, no days off, then off to the next one until I've had enough and tell them I want some time off, which is about 2 months out. When I'm off I'll usually get a week but its usually 2 days travel to home then 2 days travel back to the job so I only get about 5 days off. But I'm doing what I love, and being single who the hell cares to go home or what you may call home.

I usually work in the daytime (9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday), except when I'm on a big project that has to be done "after hours".

I'm lucky.  I work a 9 / 80 shift, that is 9 hour days over a 2 week period, with every other Friday off.  Sweet!

I work Monday thru Friday 8-5...saturdays 8-around noon.  Yes I only get one day off a week...but mondays are the days I can leave and go do things I need to do and get done...because we have a person who comes in on just mondays to help cover the store.

Then I work at the funeral home...but those days are different everytime.  Im on call from 6pm-6am  every other day except for the weekends( we rotate weekends) I will be on call from Friday at 6pm until Monday morning 6am...this is every other weekend) such as...this week i am on call Tues. and Thursday...next week I will be on call Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sat and Sun.

I am a financial manager for my company our "office hours" are 8-5 Central time, however I typically get to the office about 6:45am and leave around 5:45pm, As you can tell by the hours that I post my job does give me some felxibility to check up on the crew and post some. (just don't tell my employees)

I work Monday-Friday, the posted hours are 7:30 to 5:30 but I'm usually here much more than that. I usually show up anywhere between 6:30 and 7, sometimes earlier. I have been here as late as 7 o'clock somedays. I'm salary plus commission, so the boss could care less. Every two weeks I'll put in anywhere from 100 to 130 hours.
