Yet Another New Guy
« on: May 16, 2008, 04:27:27 PM »
Hi guys!

I am new to the clean shaven cranium. I have been wearing a buzz cut or close cut with trimmers for several years, but this week decided to take a blade to it and go all the way down.

I have been reading all the reviews of various products out there. I am pretty convinced the HeadBlade is going to be the way to go. Currently using a Mach 3 with standard shave cream and baby oil. It works well, but I still have a shadow and a bit of "Velcro effect" going on. Also, I do need to get an exfoliant and some sort of moisturizer, too, as I have a rather dry scalp.

Overall, it's been fun and my wife loves it.

Welcome!

Head looks great man.

I use the headblade and love it but as you will find there are many different ways to skin a cat ... i mean... shave a head. It will take some experiments but you will find what works for you.

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome.

Yeah, I have been experimenting. I am not 100% sold on the HeadBlade. I mean what I am using now works. And I am not usually one for fad stuff, but I could just get tired of shaving after a couple of months and give it up. I would hate to invest in a bunch of products that would sit and gather dust in the medicine cabinet.

The same thing happened when I grew a goatee. Since my beard is very sparse, it took me several months to grow anything of any consequence. After a few months of sporting it, I shaved it off. Just got tired of it, I guess. The head shaving may also be something I'll get bored with.

Tonight, I shaved twice, once with shave cream, then scrubbed the noggin with hot water and soap to help exfoliate the dry scalp, then went over it again with baby oil as the lube. Wow. VERY slick, indeed.

I have been reading the forums for a few days, and also other sites, such as headshaver.org for tips and product ideas. The front runner has been the HeadBlade line, so I will probably go that route. I am giving myself another few days before I decide.

Holy crap! What a difference!

I went ahead to the all-night Walgreen's and picked up a HeadBlade Sport, some HeadSlick, and a tube of my favorite Nivea moisturizer. I came home and eagerly went over my dome again with the new razor.

The difference was night and freaking day! Can we say SMOOTH? Gone was the shadow and the "Velcro effect" that I had with the Mach 3. I am sold! Count me in as one of the HeadBlade Team and a SLY!

Welcome Dorm.  The Headblade is a remarkable tool for those who get the hang of it.  Give it 30 days before you decide, and let us know how others react to the new you.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?
