hi all,
i'm 23, been thinking of shaving my head for about 2 years because of a receeding hairline and severe thinning. i've finally done it about a week ago. i'm relieved, but i know everyone else is shocked! the shock factor is hard to get over. anyway, i was wondering if anyone else was going bald in their 20's on here and shaved?

I'm bald by choice, and in my 20's.
Embrace the thinning - it's just your inner self wanting more outer expression and style - with less work shaving! j/k
Welcome to the boards - I'm sure you will find MANY who have (or I guess I should say had) the same experience as you.
You'll be glad you found this site - unlike anywhere on the net!

Well not exactly 20 here, just about twice your age, but...
I'll tell ya there are about what, 10-15 20 yrs and younger guys here and probably a lot more that are considered "20 something" ...
Hopefully they'll post here and tell you their story..
hang out here a while and you'll see that "balding" may seem like the end of your life, but "Bald" is the start of a new, better life!!!

24 here bro.....I've been thinnin since prolly late 22/23 and finally decided to shave it off earlier this year.....I have to say, I fit the sly sexy black dude stereotype quite well....lol. Honeslty bro, at first, it's a HUGE jump. But you have to understand WHY. There is so much societal conditioning around is that it's amazing. I mean, little things implied thru magazine, television, radio, talk shows, everywhere in life, constantly beamed into your head (at times without your observation of them) and stated as fact. One of them is that somehow bald guys aren't hot and aren't attractive to women.......Puhleeezzzzz.......That is unequivocally bullshit. Get sly and let it become part of you and you'll soon reach a point where you are ashamed that you ever had so much vanity as to consider that your hair was a necessity for life. Later bro.

23 here. I also had MPB that started early, I used to worry about it so much. Now I love the new look and never worry about it.

Good for you for shaving it all off mate. Not a lot people your age would have the balls to do it.

I started in my 20's and wish I would have done it earlier. I think you'll be amazed at how much of a non-event it will be for others in your life.

... wish I would have done it earlier.
If there's one recurring theme on this forum, it's that one. We all wish we'd done it sooner. I can understand wanting to hold onto your hair while you can. I felt the same way. But now when I look back at old photos, I waited a little too long, even though I didn't think so at the time. Now I really think that its probably best to shave as soon as possible, instead of waiting for most of it to go on its own. It saves a lot of stress in the long run.

Older than you guys here. If I had to do it over again, and shaving was acceptable (not so in the late 70's); I'd have gotten rid of my hair (laser) by the time I was say 25.
