Save A Blade

I looked through the threads and I couldn't find a review on the product called Save A Blade. I just bought it and it seems to be doing what it claims it can do. I had a fairly new razor that was starting to dull a little. I followed the instructions and it actually seemed sharper than new. I wondered if anyone else has tried this product. It's not obscenely expensive and if it can make a razor last even a month longer, it is worth it to me. Try it and tell me what you think.

smoothpaul:  glad that U  R  liking the "save A blade" product.  let us know how long your blades have lasted since using this product.  also...what type of blade are U using?

Did you order it or buy it in a store? The only problem I have with it is that it can't replace the moisture strips on your blades

I have a theory that they were actually introduced to reduce the perceived life of the blade, because my blades stay sharp long after the moisture strip is degraded. However I find I run into more irritation if its degraded, I partially solve this by putting a thin strip of headblade shave product along the strip before and after every shave.

I have the same issue, I'll need to try putting some product along the strip.  Thx for the tip.

Guys there has been a few post about htis product...it works great...you wont get 200 shave from one blade but you will get alot...and it does suck that the moisture strip in gone...but i mix my shaving cream with abit of shave oil before i shave and no probs

Looks like it may be worth the $15 but I'd like to see a few more positive reviews first......anybody else?

Blades for cartridges are ground and the hone to microscopic precision on machines costing  hundreds of thousand of dollars.
This gizmo looks like a slap sander to me and it's only working the blade from one side, what happens to the burr that raised??
I have over 30 years experience sharpening woodworking tools like chisels and planes.
A chisel or a plane iron is like a cartridge razor blade, it only has one bevel.
When you grind and hone the bevel you create a wire burr on the edge, you remove this burr by honing the back of the blade flat on your honing stone.
This gizmo is not only going to screw up the precision bevel, it's going to create a burr which won't do your face or head any good. 
If you want to save money don't spend it on $3 cartridges, get your self a DE razor and enjoy shaving with blades that cost $ .20 a piece.

My local ABC affiliate does a "does it work" segment from time to time testing out things you see on TV. They just did one on this and they gave it a thumbs up (meaning it works and is worth the money).
