My wife took me to see My Fair Lady a couple weeks ago and it being the first real large scale professional play I have been to I was impressed to say the least. I had been to smaller scale plays and musicals etc. but this was the first that was really huge.
I am now on the hunt for others and I really want to see a large production of Oliver and Fiddler on the Roof as I love the stories.
What is your favorite play or musical?

I don't know that I have a favorite, but the only 'big' production I've seen was Showboat, starring none other than Tom Bosley -- Howard Cunningham from Happy Days fame. It was pretty cool, and quite good.

I have a girl who is really into theater and at first I didnt care about it. But she dragged me to a couple of things and I love it! They have a nice theater in Little Rock and I really enjoy going down there after a nice dinner.

Phantom is always cool...and the stage is the star of that one!
The Kind and I is a real good one (and not just cuz the main dude is usually SLY)..
South Pacific is a good one because you'll find somehow you already know most of the tunes!
Rent was good (have seen 3 times) and I'd love to see Wicked.

I was in Jesus Christ Superstar recently, so I would have to say that would be my favorite. I still sing the darn thing in my head - three weeks later!

Haven't seen any professional musicals. I did go see Lost in Yonkers my freshman year of high school. Excellent production, and it was the first time I ever asked my wife out on a date. Also the first time she turned me down. LOL We talked about wanting to see it again, for old times sake.

Nice, I am going to see Phantom later this summer.

Phantom was incredible, but I'd say the Broadway production of "The Lion King" was amazing. I was able to get the Lovely Mrs. Schro & I 4th row tix right on the aisle (big points). That was cool because the actors come out into the audience and the costumes are amazing.
If you haven't seen it, Suessical is great too.

My screen name comes from one of the leading characters from Oliver!-
The Artful Dodger!
Oliver just happens to be the first show I ever saw. Back in the 80's my mom and dad told me they got tickets to that show. I didn't want to go. They dragged me there screamin and yellin. But as the overture sounded and the cool turntable scenery started moving I was totally hooked.
No show comes near Oliver. For me it's the best.
West Side Story and the Music Man are great too.
BTW,
I saw
Oliver with Patti Lupone, who's up for a tony Award this year. She has a fierce set of pipes.
I wound up playing the Dodger in a Jr High School production of that show. It was so much fun playing the ultimate picket pocket!

Hey Schro, I've also seen the Broadway Lion King with the original cast. It was amazing, it felt like the movie come to life, but with better music!
Also Jersey Boys is great--based on the mostly true story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons with so many songs that you already know and love.
The one musical everyone ought to check out is "Avenue Q"
It's like an X-rated version of Sesame street. With song titles like "The Internet is for Porn", "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist", and "I'm Not Wearning Underwear Today", how can you go wrong? There's something for everyone--great music, comedy, romance, a gay sub-plot, social commentary, and political satire to boot.
Definitely worth checking out. Coming soon to Chicago!

We've had season tickets to a local dinner theatre for over 10 years now. Before that, we had tickets to Kansas City's summer outdoor theatre for a couple of year. So in that time, we've seen quite a few. The musicals are always my favorites.

I saw South Pacific with the Vegas Lounge Lizard Robert Goulet
and the flamin' hot Barbara Eden.
Last year there was a very good concert version of SP
with Reba McEntire on PBS.
It's not every day that I get to respond to something nautical here.
Reba McEntire looks so cute in that sailor suit.

Yikes Is Alec Baldwin wearing a coconut bra?
