My guacamole
« on: May 06, 2008, 09:48:57 PM »
tonight I decided to try my hand at making guacamole.  A pretty daunting task really since my culinary skills don't go far past mac and cheese.

anyways, i think i struck gold!  best guac i have ever had!
Some people hide their recipes from others, not I.  half the things that i find that are good are drunken mistakes(take american cheese and marshmallows on a hamburger bun tossed in the microwave for 30 seconds.)

Here is what i did

2 avacados
1/4 large onion
3 green onions
1/2 large tomato
1 jalapeƱo
1 habanero
some sour cream, not sure how much, i just plopped a bunch in there

comes out nice and chunky, but not quite hot enough for me.  i may throw a second habanero in there next time.

is there anything that i may want to add?

skiking, sounds like a great recipe to me. I usually add an entire Tomato to the mix and 2-3 habaneros and 1 jalapeno.

Going to try this recipe skiking.  Never thought to add fresh hot peppers to it.  Usually add Worchestershire and Hot Sauce to mine.  I like the idea of all fresh ingredients.  THanks

Generally, you should add some citrus, both for taste and to keep the avocado from turning brown. Use lemon or lime or some of each, whatever suits your taste.
