Ever had a dream come true??
« on: May 06, 2008, 04:50:23 AM »
Tim's earlier post about his recurring dream got me thining about this.

have you ever had a dream during sleep and then had it happen. This has happened twice to me in my life:

1) In 1982 I had a dream that my Dad had a heart attack but I never thought twice about it because he was only 42 years old at the time.
A few months later on Easter Sunday he had a pretty major heart attack.

2) In 1979 my best friend Frank was murdered during a traffic altercation. About a month before it happened I dreamed that I was sitting in a room with all the guys that Frank and i worked with. All the guys were just staring quietly with very blank expressions on their faces and i was reading the obituaries (something I never did before that or since) in the local newspaper. Again, i just shrugged it off this dream.
About a month later after he was murdered I WAS actually sitting in that same room that was in the dream with the same group of guys and I was reading the paper.... Frank's obituary. The moment I started reading that obituary the hair on the back of my neck stood up and I got goose bumps. It freaked me out.

Mike the story about your murdered friend really gives me the shivers hearing you share it. In my opinion you foresaw the death of your friend.Amazing but shocking and sad that it happened.

Seems like I have had that happen before but I couldnt or cant pinpoint exactly what.  Im just praying that this dream doesnt come true.  Just seeing the pic that I seen has sorta brought it closer to reality.

Wow Mike, that is amazing...sad, but amazing...I think that shows that there is a lot more to life than meets the eye...that dream pretty much broke the rules of time and space.

I had a similar one...not so serious though...I had a dream that my roomate was missing for two days, and I was worried whether I should call his mom, the police, or tell my mom.  But at the same time I didn't want to scare them or have them think that he has problems, if nothing was really the matter other than his phone was off and he spending time with friends or something.  During the dream, there was this part where I was laying in my bed, with the sun going down on the second day, and I worried as to what to do.

Turns out I wake up the next morning, check my roomates room, and he is not there.  He hadn't come home.  I think it's not that big of a deal and go to work.  I call his cell around lunch time, and it goes straight to message.  We have a mutual friend at his job whom I call and he said he didn't show up for work, and he was supposed to.  The whole day passes and no word from him, and no answer on his cell.  The friend at his job called the police to see if he was in jail, and he wasn't.

Around 7 p.m. comes around and its been about two days since I heard from him.  I lay down in bed to think about what to do, and it is the exact same scene as in the dream.  The sun was going down, and I was contemplating whether to call his mom, tell my mom, or call the cops.

I went to have dinner at my mom's house (I'm still semi-dependant, lol) and I decided against telling her anything.  I didn't want her worrying about the type of roomate I had.

When I went back to the apartment...the A-Hole was layed out in his bed, passed out...turns out he had broke up with his girl and was having two days of straight partying etc....I felt like kicking his ass.

Well anyway...my dream did sort of come true

Had some chick across the bar once stop and stare at me, she says You don't know me and I don't know you, but GOD just told me to tell you everything was going to be OK. I was instantly relieved at what I didn't know but would eventually find out. My mother having leukemia. I have odd things like that happen all the time.

I haven't had any dreams that came true that I can remember, but you all have GREAT stories.  Funshine....did you say anything back after she told you everything would be OK?

I was instantly relieved at what I didn't know but would eventually find out. My mother having leukemia. I have odd things like that happen all the time.

Funshine's story reminded me of this (if I've told this here before please pardon me):

When my son Kody was 8 months old he started having seizures and was diagnosed with a rare disorder called Infantile Spasms. He was having about 20 seizures a day. The doctors told us he would deteriorate over the coming months and would become severely mentally and physically handicapped and spend his life in a wheel chair.
We had to wait months to have him baptised because he was so ill from the medicine he was on. We finally made arrangements to have him baptised at the Church that we were married in. We were not members there, never had been, and hadn't ever attended service there. We knew not a single member of that Church.
We were there with our families for the baptism, all very relieved for a good day in what had turned into a very bad year. The Church was absolutely packed that day. when time came to baptize Kody the pastor lifted him into her arms and walked him down the aisle, the whole time telling the congregation about all Kody's problems. She told how very sick he was and how he, and we, needed their prayers.
She then brought him back to the pulpit and as she poured the water on his head as I held him he laughed long and loud.... and then my wife and I, both crying, laughed along with him. And then the hundreds of people in the congregation laughed...and Kody laughed even more.

After the service an amazing thing happened..... the Pastor had invited the congregation to come to the front of the Church and meet Kody, my wife, and me. A very long line of people about a hudred long formed in the aisle and each and every person came to meet our special boy. As the line got shorter I noticed a man alone at the end of the line. he was mildly mentally handicapped and physically handicapped enough to walk with canes. H was probably about 30 years old. Hestood at the end of that line smiling from ear to ear and never spoke a word to anyone.

I couldn't stop looking at this man. i was mesmerized by him. Finally the line was at it's end and he waited until everyone else had left the sanctuary and he approached us. He bent close to Kody but never said a word to him..... he just gently and quickly swiped his hand across Kodys cheek. then he leaned in close to me and said," Your son is going to be OK". And off he went without another word still smiling.

It was the most surreal moment of my life because in my heart I knew that something very special had happened in that moment. Well we had about 5 years of seizures to deal with but almost 11 years after this happened kody is just a normal boy. No wheelchair, no physical disabilities.

I have no doubt that this man was sent that day to heal all of us............

Wow, I love stories like this. These really reinforce my faith and give me hope that there are worlds beyond out consciousness.

Anyway, aside from getting the occasional deja-vu I cant really think of a dream that has come true. I have had a few strange encounters though.

One morning when I was about 17-18 I was walking to the car wash I worked at. It was about 7am and I was smoking a cigarette. I was cutting through a huge strip mall parking lot that was empty.

As I am walking this old guy (easaily in his 60's - 70's) is walking toward me and just as he comes within about 20 feet of me he asks if I have a cig he can have. no problem, I give him a cig and a light and he starts going off about getting my address so he can repay me. I was like "Its just a cigarette man, no biggie". The Guy is like "No, let me repay you, I am very wealthy and I will buy you a new truck". I am thinking to myself this guy is a nut case or drunk so I just said, "thats not necessary, but thank you". He asks if I have a pen... I didn't and he shakes my hand thanks me again and we go our separate ways.

I walked literally about 10 steps and turned around and the guy was gone. I am in a parking lot the size of a Wall Mart and this guy is gone... no cars or anything to hide behind, no way he could have ran, the guy just disappeared (or magically turned into a parking block). I actually walked around looking to see where he could have gone for about 3 mins then just continued on to work.

Weirdest thing that has ever happened to me, and I am pretty cynical when it comes to things like that....

“If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.”

Ok, here's one....

Not a dream, but a cool one of fate...

about 6 years ago me and the wife were throwin' our annual summer party (we invite a lot of folks)...

so the party is going full force (highly buzzed O0) and then I notice a small crowd around one of the tables, I go to check it out and see my tough friend Gabriel (married) cryin' his eyes out with a new female guest I had just met that night(she came with a friend of ours)...

So I find out Gabriel had witnessed a horrible car accident when he was younger. He rescued the man out of his car, and held him in his arms until he passed away. In that short time the man told Gabriel to tell his family he loved them more than anything...

Gabriel had never seen the man before, so the request of course went no where...

until about 8 years later ,at our party when Gabriel was recounting the story in front of the new girl..come to find out that was HER dad!!! They of course never had much closure on the unexpected death..

Well that night the message finally got to the man's daughter and family..

No wonder the table was a crying mess!

I had never seen that girl before that night..or after for that matter!

Here's another one.

My son at the time was 8. I came home from work and my little one who was 18 months says mom michaels' dying. I was like.. what? Yeah he's behind the door and won't come out. So I go to the door and had to push it through. He was gray and almost dead. I grabbed him up carried him to car and drove 2 miles down to ER. They flew him out to AI duPont Childrens hospital. Long story short they basically said he would die or be retarted if he came out of coma. He had an abcess on his brain caused my over use of anti biotics being prescribed for ear infections. The bacteria became a power germ and ate a hole through the bone of his skull and thats how the abcess got there. Anyway... He comes out of coma after they release the pressure on his brain by opening the skull... He's good now... no brain damage just a little hearing loss from removal of Mastoid. So on we go...   My ex was coming out of elevator and asks me if I seen the lady that came out with him, that she prayed with him. I said no and thought to myself man we need sleep. Then we get to our sons room and he says did ya see the boy, he prayed with me. So I am now thinking wow what is happening, because I didn't see anyone with either of them! All this happened on A Thursday, my son was back in school on the next Monday with a pic iv line and the space ball medicine I had to give twice a day!. 25 doctors came and did a case study on him. He's 20 YO now... my BUDDY!!!!

I hope my little dude is MY buddy 20 years from now! O0

Reading some of these posts, I feel like I'm watching an episode of Medium (one of my favorite shows).

These are all really great stories!  Mike, your baptism one had me tearing up.

I've had several experiences where I've dreamed something and then it came true.

One of the most vivid of them was that I was dreaming my friend and I were driving out HWY 44 toward Shingletown, CA and we were passing through Millville.  It was night and we were headed out to drive my friends bug around in the snow. (We used to take drives to get away if something was bothering one of us, like if one of us broke up with a girl or something.)  As we were approaching Millville I could see clearly that it was snowing about 1 mile ahead.  That's all I remember of the dream.

Well, a couple months later my buddy was having girl troubles so we decided to take a drive and BS.  As we were coming down the hill I started to realize this was the dream that I had.  So, I said to my buddy, as we go around the bend, you will be able to see it starting to snow at the edge of Millville.  He kind of blew off my comment and then sure enough, as we headed around the bend there was the exact image that I had dreamed.  He got so freaked out that he pulled over and interrogated me on how I knew that.  After about 10 minutes of explaining that I dreamed it a couple of months ago and recognized the dream he finally calmed down and we got back on the road.
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.
