Thanks! This is awesome! 2nd shave on 2nd day was much closer. Tried the headblade sport for about 1 swipe but decided to wait on that until I get a little more graceful. Half my life spent pulling a razor, brain doesn't accept pushing as being safe. I'll revisit it in the future once I'm more comfortable with my routine.

Busy weekend... Hopefully the response from the ladies is a positive experience.  ^-^

I've been asked about shaving a lot over the decades by men who still have full heads of hair(like me) and who tell me they want to go completely slick.  They then tell me they dont have the guts to do it. My feeling is that if they are asking me about it they really want to at least try it and really want to be completely bald.  I tell them they just have to try it, how to shave daily, and that they have to give it several weeks before they grow it back.

I would advise someone thinking of doing it, for any reason, to first pull out the clippers and step it down like I did. I used a #3 guard one week and stepped it down until I eventually had no guard and then I shaved it. Doing it this way allows you and everyone around you to get used to it, then its not a huge shock to everyone, but most importantly yourself, especially if you've never even buzzed your head, like myself.

I would say ABSOLUTELY get rid of the remaining hair and go with the sly look, like I did, about 12 years ago.
My reasoning was this: Male Pattern Baldness had done its damage to me by the time I was in my mid-late 20's. The lack of hair on top of my head made me look older than I was.
By removing the rest of my hair, I actually made myself look YOUNGER.

You may get a shocked comment or two from friends and coworkers, but they don't stay with you long at all, it's just people adjusting to your new look (like when women dye their hair a new color.) And...once you've gone sly, there are plenty of women (and a few strange dudes :/O) who would just love to rub your sly dome O0

Thanks.  New member, and this thread is giving me a lot to think about.  I started a thread about the comb-over I'm currently sporting, so if anyone has anything to add over there I'd appreciate it.

Can't find that thread about your combover but remember this and remember it well  :x! you'll never get a comment on how sexy your combover is--
But when you're Sly, oh my  O0. It's nice, really nice.

  • against the grain, thats insane!
If ur going bald just shave ur head, thats what i do & im only 19, turst me its great, no more having to worry about windy days or annoying comments, if you do it you will feel like a completely new person & wonder why you didn't do it sooner + it feels great.

I would say clip it down short first. That way if your not diggin the look you already have something on top to start growing back. If you like it short then go all the way and shave it. You'll like it 100% better and honestly wonder why you  didn't do it sooner.  ;D

I'm going for the clipping down in a short while. I think if I like it I'm going straight down to the skin. I remember being younger having a shaved head and it seemed to suit me [I guess I should be happy that I have a good shaped head].

Keep you guys posted!
