I remember looking at guys with the classic "chrome dome" and wondering; why don't they shave that crap ? I mean they're already more than half way there. Or I remember looking at jack nicholson and wondering, does that guy ever have a good hair day ?..aha...Then it occurred to me what it was: they didn't give a rat's backside, it was me with the issue. If they wanted to shave their head, they'd have done it.
So, yep_yep, I know that not everybody looks the same with a shaved head, but the question is why do we worry so much about it ? Maybe we're so vain that we make choices based on what other people think. We all admire someone who stands out and has more substance than just their personal appearance, but when push comes to shove we often become followers instead of leaders and do whatever we think everybody will find acceptable. A buzz cut will give you a general idea, but it is a poor substitute for the shine.
Some fear it, some love it, all I know is it feels good and I don't worry about my hair cause I shaved it off this morning
<-- he knows what's i'm talking about.
good point Brian..................
As far as advice on going sly.... Check out my pic with hair and my pics without hair. Enough said.

I guess my advice would be the same as sbiswas979, just take a look at my before and after pics... Especially the ones in uniform here compared to my profile pic!
Absolutely. Bet people take you way more seriously now.

They certainly do! And I'm sure you can all see how Sly give me the appearance of being older, and that helps a great deal when dealing people at work.
If you are bothered about your balding then just go ahead and shave you head. Also, don't let other peoples negative comments about your new "hairdo" make you decide to grow your hair out again. Its only hair so if you hate the bald look, it'll just grow back...
I worked with a guy who was SLY before it was cool. He would tell guys who were going bald to stop teasing there self and get a razor you will love it
When i saw the first hint of a spot starting i thought about what he said and just did it
He was on the money i love it
Hi, I've been lurking for a month or so... My story: recently divorced - need to find women. I'm gray and balding but I do my best to make it work for me. I've considered shaving my head in the past but not as much as I am now. I'm close but I'm quite terrified I won't look good.
I'm a slacker with shaving my face. Probably twice a week if I'm lucky. Will this be a problem for me? Do some sly guys let their hair grow in a shadow on purpose? Will it make me look younger? (i'm 39)
I buzzed my head a few years back, not short enough I think (#2 or #3 (1/2 inch)). I did notice that my natural charm didn't seem to work as well. People seemed to get serious around me. Whatever it was... it was different and I didn't like it. Right now I see my options as shaving it or keeping it the same. Buzzing it down doesn't do it for me.
I would've shaved it by now but I've been successfully flirting with a gorgeous 28 year old. She seems to dig me and wants to spend time at the beach among other activities.
How do I ask her how she feels about shaved heads? Or do I just chance it and just do it. I have the double whammy, very gray and very receded but this girl seems to like me regardless.
Ahhh... to shave or not to shave. That is the question.
Welcome Cheese!!! I don't know how you feel about your grey hair, but shaving will take care of that. The SLY look has taken years off some of us.
Try it for 30 days, that is the trial period.
