OK You all...Im gonna give Warhawk a GREAT BIG THANK YOU!  Wanna know why?  We were all sound asleep this morning at 530 am in our beds....when we start to feel our house shaking all over the place.  Being that we are suppose to have severe thunderstorms today....when we felt the house shakign..here in the midwest....we have TORNADOS....so I jump up...and immediately start to wake everyone else up...but we already all awake.. SO we immediately run to the basement...as the wife and kids are going down Im grabbing the radio.....but notice that it is calm outside...i go to the basement and i look at the wife and said WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?  She looks at me like what?  I said its calm out side....there is NOTHING...she said well maybe it was a downburst?  I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...because there is NOTHING.  A few minutes later I hear on the radio we just had a 5.5 Earthquake and the epicenter was located just 20 miles west of here.  So thanks Warhawk for stirring things up around here LOL....we all are up now 2 hours early! LOL

OK you all....DONT EVER LISTEN TO ANYTHING WARHAWK SAYS...HE WILL ONLY CAUSE YOU TROUBLE! LOL
I know all of you Californians....wouldnt bat an eye at what just happened here....but in my neck of the woods you dont really ever deal with earthquakes.  It has been confirmed a 5.6 with the epicenter located just 20 miles west of here.   Just the weirdest feeling...but im worried because we didnt have a plan together very well.  If it had been a more damaging or stronger earthquake...do you all agree that the basement is the worst place to go??  What do you all out west  normally do during an earthquake???  Earthquakes are just as unpredicatable as a tornado...so you must act quickly when one happens.  I would be interested to know how everyone out in California reacts when you have an earthquake...

I was in a bar in San Francisco, on Castro Street, when the 1989 quake hit. I was standing in the back of the bar watching some guys play pool when it started. There was a rumbling sound, than the floor started to move and the old timber beams of the building started to shake, dust started to fall out of the ceiling. I thought that it was it for me. Everyone ran out the door and into the street. After it ended, everyone when went back in and ordered another drink. However all power went out than and they had to close down. The whole street closed due to power failure and all these people were just milling around Castro and Market. It was a strange afternoon to say the least.

I think the general rule is that if you are inside, take cover under something sturdy, or at least cover your head, with your arms or whatever. I think the old adage about getting in a door frame is not true anymore. I have put earthquake hooks on all my paintings and pictures, and strapped down all bookshelves, cabinet, etc. I have extra water and other supplies. They are saying if the big one hits in the Palm Springs area, we will be on our own for up to a month. All service will be cut off from Los Angeles and no airports will be serviceable. Should be fun.

Haha! LOL....actually we just had a strong aftershock just like less than 3 minutes ago.  There have been many aftershocks here all morning but this one was by far the longs and most felt aftershock...lasted about 20 seconds...
Like I said all you guys in California are probably rolling your eyes at me...but this is weird stuff, especially here in SW Indiana.  I will keep you all posted

Yup, saw that a quake hit the midwest...

Can't say it's a California thing anymore...oh and the mudslides are only near the hill areas...and there is a lot of California that is NOT by a hillside and fires happen in a lot of places and gangs and random shootings everywhere these days,

so I guess Cali doesn't stack up so bad ...

but really I'm up in Washington, so what does THAT tell ya? ;)

Well if you had stopped and read the slug, it would have said "Welcome to East LA, you are invited to a BBQ at St Helena Park this afternoon, please bring a side dish".

Thats how they welcome all visitors.

The first quake that I ever experienced (that I didn't sleep through) was on Thanksgiving day in I believe it was 1998.  I was at my parents house in Redding, CA and sitting at the kitchen table.  My mom was at the stove cooking, but had just given me a glass of Crystal Light that she had made.  I was talking to her and took a drink.  Just as I took a drink, the wall behind her tilted to the left, but she remained straight up.  I was thinking "whoa, what's in this stuff?"  So, like any normal  :/O person would do I took another drink...lol!  Well, once again, the wall moved to the left and my mom stayed standing straight up.  Just as I was about to ask her, "What the hell did you put in my drink?" the whole house started shaking.  I then knew it was an earthquake.  One of the weirdest things I've ever experienced!  Turns out it about a 5.0.

I've been through a couple smaller ones since then.  I was watching the 89 world series during the earthquake, though I was 250 miles away and didn't feel it.  I just remember the screen going to static and then a minute later the cameras came on and were tilted.  You could see people starting to leave the stadium and then they cut to a KTVU broadcaster.
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

OK here is an update of the Earthquake situation here in the Great Midwest.  As of early this morning...at 130am we had another earthquake that measured a 4.5.  I really didnt know Warhawk had it in him.  That man is wicked is all I can say.  We have had a total of 18 aftershocks between Friday at 1130am..( that was the second earthquake measured at 4.8) and 1:30am early this morning.
Matter of fact as I am sitting here I can sorta feel the house trembling now........so I dunno.  I will say one thing...IT WAS A WAKE UP CALL!  Dont you all agree that teh basement is the worst place to be during an earthquake?  LOL...everyone around here thought it was a tornado and it is our natural instinct to go to the basement...
My wife did make a comment that she wasnt just going to be sleeping in just a tshirt anymore lol....cause we were suppose to run out side LOL
That would ahve been a site to see at 430am...lol
