Hi there. I went bald at 20, tried a rug for 5 years, and have been wearing a baseball cap for the last 10 years. I had almost a crippling fear of any type of social events where you couldnt wear a hat, and I'd have to expose my big, white bald head. I'd pick up girls, and then they would freak when they got my hat off. I never thought something as trivial as hair could have such a big impact on someones life, but it did.
Anyway, just shaved it all off, and I'm rather susprised at how great I look and how good, and relieved I feel. Ive got some razor burn, and need some sun on my dome... but it really looks good. I'm sort of scared of how my coworkers are going to react... but I'm really over hiding under a hat. Thanks you guys and your site for giving me the courage to get over myself and shave it smooth!

Welcome! Hey, if you like the look so much, you will exude confidence. If you were already that bald and not doing the combover, I'm sure the reaction will be positive from your coworkers, but if not, they can just kiss your a$$. If you're loving it, that's all that matters. If you have the ability to pick up girls, it wasn't because of your baseball cap. It's obviously your personality. Lots of girls like the sly look with confident guys. Post up a before and after pic, so we can see you.

Welcome to the world of the "Bald" and the "Beautiful".

As for that burn, your head will toughen up, and it will go away within a week.
Cheers, Anthony

Welcome Leathermonkey. Your dome will get used to shaving soon and then you'll have less irritation and burn. Don't worry about your co-workers - as long as you like it that's all that matters.

Thanks for all the encouragment guys. I felt great about it yesterday, but when I woke up this morning, I was full of doubt. Only my best friend has seen me so far, and said it looked good, but I am very nervous about the work week ahead and the 100 or so people that are going to be making comments.

Going to work for the first time after shaving your head is the hardest part of the whole process. It's perfectly normal to feel apprehensive. The good news is it will all be over a few minutes after you walk through the door and then the worst will be behind you.
