WHEN was the last time U rode a bicycle?

hello fellow chrome domes:  just wondering...when was the last time U rode a bicycle?  also... who taught U how  2 ride a bicycle?  and also... do U remember your 1st 2 wheel bike and its description?  i'll start:  the last time i rode a bicycle was sooo long ago that i can't even remember.   my dad was the one that taught me how 2 ride a bike.  i still remember it like it was yesterday.  it's probablly one of my fondest memories that i have w/ my dad.  my bike was orange in color and had a black banana seat.  remember those banana seats?

anyways... how 'bout U?  when was the last time U rode a bicycle?  who taught U how 2 ride?  and did U own a banana seat bike?  what's your story?

I have a mountain bike... it hasn't had a lot of use but it's in the shop for a tune up as I type.  With gas prices going through the ionosphere, I'm thinking I may be biking this summer to and from work!

My dad taught me how to ride my first bike.  I remember it was blue and it had just a regular black seat on it.  I do remember getting one of those decals that you rub with a coin to make it transfer.  It was of frankenstein...lol  I think one of those saturday morning cartoon characters.  I remember lots of wrecks...lol

The last time I rode one...well matter of fact ..it was last night.  My daughter left her Barbie bike over at the neighbors and I went to get it ...i rode it home...and my damn knees kept knocking on the handle bars..lol.....i got yelled at cause I wasgoing to bend the frame or pop the tires! LOL...

Riding a bike to work wouldnt be a bad idea....cause I only live about 5 blocks from work...so even at that I could even walk to work if I wanted....

Mel, This topic brings back a lot of memories.  Yes, I remember those banana seats.  I had one of those.  And the little streamers we used to attach to the ends of our handle bars.  I think I got my first bike when I was 4 or 5.

I still ride bikes with my kids.  I have a mountain bike.  There are a lot of bike trails around my neighborhood.  One thing my sons love to do is to ride our bikes to the Sonic Drive-In that’s less than a mile from our house to get ice-cream.  And if you ride your bike, it makes the guilt from ice cream seem not as bad.

AWESOME stories guys... did U ever place a playing card in your spokes 2 make it "click" and pretend that it was a motorcycle?!?   the neigborhood kids and i used 2 have a "jumping" contest on a ramp and pretend 2 B evel knievel.

Another "aussie" story...

2nd trip to Perth...went to Rottnest Island and rented bikes to go view and travel the whole island...

awesome day and memory...it was about 4-5 yrs ago...

d@mn, seems like I did all the fun stuff down there...

 gotta go back to Australia to start "livin' again!

Yes I use to put the playing card in the spokes but we also would take an aluminum can and run over it wiht our tire...it would get caught between the tire and the forks and would make a motor sound too.  I can also remember we would tie a wagon to the back and have someone ridign it in and go over ramps.  Man to be a kid again.  Sounds liek fun.

My first bike was called the wheeler dealer it was red with poker hand decals all over it. My dad taught me how to ride a bike. It has been forever since I rode a bike, I'd probably kill myself if i tried now, i don't care what they say about forgeting how, LOL

Oh now come on Nomad.....ya know they make thoe threewheelers with the baskets on teh back.  You can load that up with some brewskies and have alot of fun. 
When I was growing up I was the envy of all the kids at school. My dad use to own a bicycle shop.  I had all the latest in bikes..like the mongoose and the alloy wheels.  I remember going to the factory and my dad bought one of the first designs of mongoose bikes.  I think I rode a different bike to school everyweek.  My dad would get so mad at me because he said I was never satisfied.  But dude....you have a whole store full of bikes and you expect me to pick just one!  I even remember riding one of those three wheelers to school one day just like the one I just mentioned to Nomad.  I got laughed at ..but it was cool letting two of my friends sit int eh basket as we went down main street! LOL

BA I hear Rottnest Island is a pretty rad place. I havent been to WA yet(nearly 8 years here,go figure eh). Back in Ohio I rode my bike everywhere and I do mean everywhere as I lost my drivers license for a year due to teenage stupidity(DUI).

I recently borrowed a friends Mongoose BMX bike that I have been riding around everywhere.

thats funny you mention the 3 wheelers, i used to work as a bicycle mechanic at a bike shop when I was younger and we used to rebuild trade ins and sell them real cheap to the old folks in FL and when i was done i would test drive them all over the Island, I had a blast cruising around on those things

Gee, I'm glad you guys mentioned bikes.  I've been lamenting the fact that my motorcycle  is in the shop and today is suppose to be a really nice day; in fact the first good warm day in many days.  I think I will get my mountain bike, knock off the cob-webs, and give it a spin.  I had it tuned up late last fall and only got a couple of good rides on it, before the weather went south.
You guys are an inspiration!

These BMX dudes got nothin' on this ol' fart...

Back in the early 60's we used to  ride the canyons of Southern Calif. with our 20" Stingrays doing jumps and bustin' frames.  Mine had been welded back together by a neighbor with an auto body shop countless times until he reinforced it with a piece of tube steel.

I saved money from my paper route and bought a springer set of forks for it... man I was cool!    At least, I thought so!
