« on: April 09, 2008, 12:49:39 PM »
hello fellow chrome domes:  just wondering, i loved watching SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE as a teen. ;D  i wanted 2 know who was your favorite comedian from SATURDAY NIGHT.  i'll start:  my favorite was the hilarious eddie murphy (gumby, mr. robinson's neighborhood, and buckwheat).  so... who's your favorite SNL comedian?  what's your story?

Another great topic Hawk. I have several favorites. From the "original" cast, I would say Akroyd, Belushi, Steve Martin and Chevy Chase. From the 80's and 90's it would be Adam Sandler, Mike Meyers, Dana Carvey, David Spade, Phil Hartman (RIP), Will Ferrell and countless others. It's certainly not the same as it was in the old days. I love the old episodes. I like the "Best of" box sets they have for each performer. Gotta start collecting those.

I think Dana Carvey and all his different characters were my favorite.  He didn't seem quite as good once he left the show and some of the stuff on his own.  I haven't seen him in awhile.  He did a great impersonation of the 1st George Bush.

Since as long as I can remember, if I was awake and near a TV at 11:30 on Saturday, SNL is on. I have seen some of the best sketch and topical comedy, live music performances and impressions I have ever witnessed on that show.

I agree that it is not as good as the old days (really, what is though?) but its still there and still putting out quality work.

Favorites... that is tough.

Chevy Chase, Dan Ackroyd, John Belushi and Gilda Radner were great.

Eddie Murphy killed my when I was in my early teens.

Dana Carvey has yet to match the genius of his time on SNL

Chris Farly and Phil Heartman were amazing.

Will Farrell, greatness!

I really commend Tina Fey for being head writer and doing a great weekend update.

I admit, I still think its funny, just not AS funny as times in the past.

Never missed a Saturday night with Gilda Radner, she absolutely cracked me up.   Add to that Jane Curtain and Belushi...laugh your a$$ off all night.

That's just too hard of a question to answer, but I do love all the old episodes.  I watched a show on the History of Saturday Night Live and it talked about how many of the old cast members were replaced in one fell swoop and that's how they've got to the new cast.  But they also showed how SNL's success went in waves, so I'm hoping there's going to be another great wave of comedians to come through.

Belushi without a doubt......... Samurai Deli and Cheeburger,Cheeburger.

My favorite Belushi bit of all time was when Joe Cocker (who I still LOVE) was the musical guest. If you've ever see Cocker perform, he has quite an unusual style. Belushi came out as Cocker performed and mimicked his "style" exactly......... hilarious.

I looked for a video on YOUTUBE with no luck. If anybody finds it please post it up!

I agree, I love the original cast episodes, that's just classic stuff. I dig the later years too, and I did enjoy Chris Farley (RIP). His brand of humor just killed me, and I always crack up with his skits. eg. - (fat guy in a little coat....)   ;D   :*))

I've always loved SNL and I'd have to say my faves were Adam Sandler and Chris Farley, though Will Ferrell always was pretty good too... my fave though is Darrell Hammond and his uncanny ability to transform in to a multitude of political figures - he was great as Bill Clinton esp during the whole Lewinsky scandal.
