non dominant shaving

• Hi am new to shaving my head, i started a week ago and have looked through the forums for good advice, which i found there to be large amounts of.
  
  Last night i managed to dislocate my right shoulder while sleeping.  i am now in a sling and have virtually no range of motion.  On top of that, shoulder surgery is in my near future. 
  
  I am right handed so i cannot shave my head with my dominant hand.  I tried to have my sister shave my head for me today but she managed to nick me several times and gave me good slash across the back of the head.  So now i am required to do it myself( I won't let her do it again), and I have zero coordination with my left hand.
  
  Does anybody have any suggestions about using the non dominant hand to shave, or is everybody else here smarter than I and doesn't have joint problems?

• Thats a tough one bro. What if you tried getting the headblade?  I cant see where that wouldnt work.  I almost bet...cause the more I think about it....You wont have any trouble with a headbladeSP.  all you have to remember with that HB is that you shouldnt ever put too much pressure on the blades...keep the pressure just above the wheels on the HBsp.  Hope that works for ya....see ya

• Sorry to hear about your shoulder! While your picking up your new headblade sport there will be a black attachment that comes with it's for a Gillette sensor blade.  You may want to also pick up a 5 pack of those to go along with the blades that will be coming with the new sport.  The sensor blades are much more forgiving for me.

• skiking:  1st of all welcome 2 the sly fraternity.  sorry 'bout your shoulder injury.  hope U recover quickly.  U might want 2 try an electric razor.  i started off with a norelco with the 3 circles (rotorary blades) at walmart (until i discovered the fusion).  i believe it costs around 40-50 bucks.  it may B your more practical solution while U R recovering and no "nicks" or no "cuts".  it will probably not get U a close shave like a manual razor but atleast U can use it and U will have an injury-free shave.

  I know when I use the Headblade, I switch hands depending on which side of the head I'm shaving. Careful, it does take some getting used to.
  
  Although, as much as I swear by the Headblade, I do think the electric Warhawk suggested might be the best way to go in your situation.

  Welcome SKIKING! I think the suggestion from Koaa is a great one. Maybe you could swing a deal with a local barber if you agree to come in say three times a week for a month or so.

• Welcome to the SBG family skiking, the brothers gave you some good advise here. The HeadBlade will offer you the ultimate in controll, even if you are not very coordinated. It's as easy as sliding your hand over your head.

• I think that the HB might be a little tricky with ur problem. Warhawk's suggestion sounds like the best one IMO.

• Hey Skiking, welcome to SBG!
  I am with both opinions actually. With Warhawk you will get the quick fix and almost smooth, but with Timmayyy's it could benifit you in the long run.
  When I was younger I fractured my right arm 3/4 of the way through the bone. Instead of casting it, I wore a sling for 2 months. During that time I got to where I could do all sorts of things with my left hand, even played basketball one handed.
  Just thinking it could help develop your cordination during your healing time.

• I tried the headblade this evening, I am quite satisfied with the ease of use, the only problem is a few bumps on the back of my head(disformities from hitting my head a lot) are a little tricky to shave over.  I didn't cut myself and felt a whole lot more secure than with my other razor.  I tried the electric this morning at my  parent's house and after a lot of shaving, i felt like i got very little hair off the top.  Thanks for all the suggestions.
