Anyone start the process with a zero guard buzz?

I am just wondering if my new buzz at all gives me a good idea of what the shave will look like.

I no-guard buzzed for over 2 decades before shaving. While it will give you a pretty good feel for how you will look as compared to a full head of hair, I was actually surprised at how much different (and better) shaved looked over buzzed.

Welcome Doug. The "no guard" buzz can you somewhat of an idea of at least the shape of your dome if it was completely shaved. But it's no comparison to totally shaving with a razor dude. Go for it and stick around.

doug: the zero guard buzz is like hitting a triple in baseball. why not hit a home run & shave that dome smooooth with a quality razor (fusion, headblade, mach3). this weekend will B a gr8 time 2 hit that home run and do the deed. i promise U that U will not regret it and besides your wifey is encouraging U 2 "scrape" that noggin' smooooth.

Welcome Doug. I also agree with bootedbear. I shaved with no guard for a year and it was a huge difference.

Hey Doug, welcome! I was buzzing mine down for about 6 months or so with no guard and it finally got to me and with the great support of my SBG bros I took the plunge and shaved it off. You get an idea of what you'll look like, but you really can't appreciate how great a sly dome looks until you do the deed. Go for it you won't be disappointed!

You will definetly look different when you shave the head... even compared to a zero buzz.
But DIFFERENT=BETTER..................

With the MPB thing I had going on, I started at the barber with a two, then went to a one, then 0 and finally all the way...So it was a slow progression for me...

I had shaved with 0 guard when I was a kid a bunch of times (sometimes leaving bits in an artistic style to say the least) and I had "bic'd" my head once.
When I started loosing my hair I took it down with the clippers and soon followed it up with a shave.

I took Mojim's route. went gradual. a coiuple of months ago too i was zero guard shaving for a while. When I went back to razor shaving I still clipper shaved for a while; but would go over my head over and over again; so that it was looking pretty clean. But there is always a stubble with clipper shaving; and while it approximates a razor shave; it's just not the same. I agree with everyone who has said the razor shave makes a big difference in overall appearanace; looks so much better. On the other hand; if you shave real close with the clippers for a few days; it won't be such a big deal tothe world at large when you razor shave. But it will make a BIG difference to you. Good Luck !

I agree with John. After buzzing at 0 for a while, no one really notices the difference of a tight close shave. But you will! It will feel so great and you will have that edge that being smooth gives you. go for it!

Thanks Marty! The black frames offset the Mr. Clean look, I guess.
