while having a bit of insomnia the other night ; I took a look as to what is on Canadian (non-cable) TV at 3 a.m.    Great infomercial for  a CD set called; ....  get ready ....   Flower Power ....   great hits of early 60s throgh ear. 70s.      It had a lot of cool footage; of groups like the Byrds  on TV shows like Ed Sullivan and Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. ...  Anyway;   there was some ref. to Barry McGuire and his classic "Eve of Destruction"   so i did some Youtube searching  for more of him ...  a great  1965 TV spot of him singing Eve of Destruction (lots of passion, emotion, and very 'macho' for a "peacenik") Then found some cool spots of him singing with the New Christy Minstrels on "Hootenanny" (who here remembers THAT show ? ) ...    Well; anyway (again) there were also some vids of the present day Barry; who sings at local concerts and peace gatherings; and guess what? ...   He's as sly as an Easter Egg !!     He's in his early 70s; and looks great;  still very confident and energetic.  So; check out these videos . ...

I have seen that same infomercial and the Barry McGuire "video" for Eve of Destruction.

I can only hope that I am still able to belt out a song like that when I am his age.

Good find.

I had been aware that Barry was sly since I saw him over at the shaved headed musician website called, Take It From The Head, www.takeitfromthehead.com .

Some of you may or may not be aware that Barry also had a career in Contemporary Christian Music.  The first Christian concert I had attended was when the campus ministry group I was a part of sponsored Barry at Western Washington University in Bellingham about 1981 or 82.  In the 1990's, he also did a concert at my church.

I agree, he looks great sly!  But if any of you have ever gone over to my Yahoo! group, Christian Chromedomes, you will find a few photos that show a bit of Christian musicians who are sly.
