Loss(- ) or Gain(+) of Man Points

--- Quote from: SlySurfer on March 24, 2008, 05:31:09 PM ---Many moons ago, two of my buddies and I started a “man points” scale.
At the time, I scored fairly consistently in the middle of the man scale. I wasn’t the most manly of the 3, we all agreed, but I wasn’t the least manly either. I was who I was and I remained within a 1 point deviation of my mean manliness throughout the duration of the scale. We all agreed the man scale was accurate and reliable.  8)

Then I met her. I had the usual early relationship love-sickness, sure. That was bound to cost me points and this was expected. I said a couple of dumb things, this cost me more points. The dog was an automatic two point deduction. Buying the ring represented a negative 3 points…  :o

It goes on and on, but the summary is that I’ve caused a change in the format of the chart. I’ve forced us to explore negative territory on the chart’s scale. I also wonder how many points would be deducted if one of my cohorts was to see that we purchased the flower covered wedding budget book.   :-[
The man scale isn’t so funny anymore.  :Xo!

Please, the whole thing gets muddy when you finally grow up and decide just to be a good man and do what's right for you and your relationship and not care what others think...

kinda like the "hair" theme around here...do what YOU want...

hmmm, but with that said, I think cloggs are a good one for the negative points! ;)

My last recording is before I started using only Drums, Bass and Sax. Sort of like the group Morphine. My comps are more swing based though. I sing as well.

I'm currently writing a musical based on an original theme called "Throwing Stones At The Sun".  It's a comedy about the absurdity of faith, taking place during the Spanish Inquisition.  It's a lot of work but I'm enjoying it.  I'm hoping to have it play off Broadway in a year or two.

You?

As a Bass player, you must well aware of the fact that the Bass player always gets the girl! Doubly so when you play upright.

Whew! That does sound like a lot of work, but a labor of love is not labor at all, right?

I spent about 15 years in a ska/punk/rock band that played all over the west coast and we opened up for a ton of big acts (sublime, 311, Tonic, etc. ) did some tours etc. We went on hiatus when I moved last year.

Right now I am playing with a jazz / soul / funk band on electric and I am looking for a good bluegrass or jazz project on upright.

And yes, bass players are always the ones that get the girls, free drinks, party invites and all the "perks"... especially when you double as a frontman.  O0

Cool, awesome instrument to play...

Nothing screams SLY like a slick, bald headed dude playing some cool tunes on a stand up bass..

very hip, very SLY! O0
