I am going on my Hols soon and was looking for a nice Baseball cap to keep sun out of my eyes really and came across some hats in my local Marks & Spences that claim to have a SPF factor 15 ingrained in the material. What do you think Guys, How does it work? does it stay in the material after a couple of wash's?

Never heard of it. I can't imagine it would stay in for too long after a few washes.

I'm not sure how they do this. Do you have the manufacturer's name?

Exactly, Mike. Why cover up the smooth, shiny noggin?.
The only time I would use a hat is if I'm going to be out in the intense sun for all or most of the day. Otherwise show that slick, smooth dome, bro!

Maybe this is a stupid question......But if you're wearing a ball cap.....Why do you need the SPF?

You know its funny about the ballcaps. I was always wearing one. Never hardly ever seen me without one. I wasnt trying to cover anything up, I just liked the look. But since I started shaving.....I havent worn one since. A few days went by and I was like itching to wear one, but when I put one on....it looked rather silly. So now I have a whole wall in the basement and my hats are all haning on a hook seperately. The wife said I shoudl get rid of them but I say no.....they are my collection. I have about 50 hats..
But for this sly guy....No more hats on this head..

exactly. a solid material ball cap has more UV protection than somed damned lotion you rub in.
after all, we don't have SPF on our shirts or pants, do we?
I think its just a marketing scam

There are shirts, pants and bathing suits that have sun protection. "A fool and his money are soon parted".

I recommend you get some different hats that suit your style if your into to them. One with spf sound interesting to say the least.... I am thinking it could protect your hat from sun damage at most
