Rubbed Celebrity shoulders today
« on: March 09, 2008, 10:31:16 PM »
Hey all, so how was everyones weekend?  Good here...a busy one but a good one.  I was going to try adn post a pic in here tonight but my photobucket and kodak program seem to be fighting this evening.  So I will have to do it later...but I will tell you about the photo.
Today we went to church and much to our surprise we had a guest band/singers today.  The band is called Luminate and you can view their page on myspace.com/luminate.  Very good band.  The lead singer Sam Hancock is from here in Washington Indiana and they are becoming very succesful.  While sitting in church my youngest daughter sitting to the right of me ( Annie)  and this girl comes and sits down right behind her.  She was sorta different looking...meaning you could tell she wasnt a local.  All thru service Annie kept looking at her and saying Dad...i know her from somewhere and I just cant figure it out.  It was driving Annie crazy.  So after service was over we were getting up and shaking peoples hands.  I turned to this girl and I said...excuse me ...but my daughter has to know what your name is ...she says she knows you but not sure from where.  The girl....bends down looks at Annie and says...so you know me huh....well look real close and you might figure it out.  Annie all of a sudden goes...OMGish...no you cant be..your not....and She says..Yes I am.  THe girl was Brandi Cyrus,  Miley Cyrus' half sister ( aka Hanaha Montana).  Well as it turns out ...Brandi is dating Sam Hancock the lead singer of the band.  I just wish I could have had Annies reaction on video tape....cause it was priceless.  I know to some....meeting a celebrity/ family member of a celebrity is nothing....but here in lil ol Washington Indiana...off the beatin path....its an honor.  Well just wanted to share that with you all.  I will try and post later...mean whiile...go check out Luminates myspace page..its cool.  See ya Timmayyy!

That's cool Timmmmaaayyyy!  I bet it's pretty rare to see a celeb in that neck of the woods.

I was at Disneyland this weekend and kept seeing Lawrence Fishburn.  Though, I didn't talk to him at all.

Very cool for your daughter Timm. My son Kody has a huge crush on Hannah Montana. If I hear that song one more time I think I'll have to go out in the yard and kill something. ;D

Know the kids are all hepped up on anything Hannah Montana so that had to be really cool for your daughter Timm.

That's pretty cool.  I know Hannah Montana's pretty big around here.  Her concert sold out in just a couple of minutes when she was here about a month ago.

What's even cooler, and unusual, is that you saw a celebrity in CHURCH.  It's just not the image that is portrayed out of Hollyweird.  In her case, maybe it's because of the country music connection with Billy Ray.  By the way, it's just my opinion; let's not get into a cyber fight over it.  Great story, Timmy.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

I am not too surprised to hear about Branid Cyrus in a church setting because I remember that Billy Ray Cyrus had a song that made air play on Christian music stations around the country a few years ago.  I had heard that he was a Christian, so it would not be surprising if some of his children were too.

As for rubbing shoulders with celebrities, I had three attend a church that I used to attend.  Plus I have met all three.  One was Grant Goodeve.  He played the oldest brother, David on Eight is Enough.  In fact, he was in a Christmas concert called "Handel's Young Messiah", where he played Handel.  I was part of a 160 voice choir during that musical.

For those of you who are in their 40's or above, you might remember a cooking show called, "The Galloping Gourmet".  The chef, Graham Kerr also attended my church.

The last person is a country music singer named Michael Peterson.  He was at my church before he went to Nashville.  But I believe that his biggest hit was the song  called, "Drink, Swear, Steal and Lie".

As for "sly" celebrities, I have met Seattle Mariner great, Jay Buhner at a event for Toys for Tots.  I even had a picture taken with him.  But I don't know where it is at now.  But unfortunately, he was wearing a hat in the photo.
