WHO'S a backseat driver in your family??
« on: March 07, 2008, 09:42:24 AM »
hello fellow chrome domes....i was just thinking about this subject & i thought it would B a very fun topic 2 discuss with my fellow chrome domes.  so...who's a backseat driver in your family?  i'll start:  my beautiful wifey & my mom R the backseat drivers in my family.  i would hear the constant: "hey mel...your driving 2 fast!",  "hey, mel...there's a stop light coming".  "hey, mel...could U slow down." "hey, mel...watch out 4 that big pothole". 5t*mp

as much as i luv the 2 favorite lay-days in my life...i hate their backseat driving comments.  it's like a play-by-play report of my driving.  however...i just "deal" with it & i've learned 2 "tune" their comments out.  i'm sure most guys R good at "tuning" out things.  so... how 'bout U?  who R the backseat drivers in your family?  and if U R a backseat driver then let us know.  4 the record i'm not a backseat driver.  so...what's your story?

I forgot which SBG made this comment, but it sticks in my mind as an all time favorite:

"MY WIFE DOES ALL THE DRIVING, I JUST TURN THE WHEEL".  :*))

That sums up road tripping with Team Schro

Well it's just my bride and myself and after 36 years of marriage, we have both learned that when we're the passenger to just keep our mouth shut, hang on tight and pray hard!   :*))

Ugh... My Wife.

she is constantly relaying instructions of what I am ready doing...

"Ok, turn left here"  as I have my blinker on and am in the turning lane.

Yep me too.

Sometimes it's almost like she's teaching me to drive.  "Hang on, theres a car coming"  "Ok...all clear...GO..GO !"

How in the world does she figure that I get around town safely and effectively without her?  `Dr!v

Mike that is funny, My wife does that too.  What really gets me is when I'm riding with her and when she comes to an abrupt stop, she throws out her hand as if to catch me from flying forward into the windshield... Just like I was one of the kids.  I can take care of myself.  :Xo!

I hate to say that i am a bit of a backseat driver.  I feel hypocritical, though, because i hate when people do it to me.  My mother is the other one in my family.  With me, it's usually, "forgot to use your blinker to change lanes", or "would you get off that other car's bumber?".

Oh yeah!  ;)  That would be me.  I can't watch the road when my wife is driving, and she knows it.  As a result, she does stuff out of fear of me being critical.   :Xo!  For years I never realized it.  Now, I try to site see and not look where we're going.  :*))

Had that problem tonight.  We got snow here today and it was drifting and blowing across the highways and stuff.  Well early this evening we were coming back to town and the roads werent in that good of shape. Basically I was coasting down the highway.  There was a car...oh lets say ....about 10 car lengths in front of me....my wife was like...Timmm!  Slow down!  you are going to rear end that other car if you start sliding!  I was like.......................????????????  I dont even have my foot on the gas....and you think that going 10 mph is going to make me slide 10 car lengths ahead and rear end a car that is probably going 20mph.....lol.....all i said was yes dear...I will let my foot off the gas....lol

Where do you live, Timmmay.....Siberia?  @c3
I haven't seen a single snow flake this entire winter.
Man, I'm one lucky dude. The sun's been shining on my bald head all winter.
I have to admit that I admire you midwestern slys. You certainly have guts to go driving in all that slippery icy mess.

My wife is not the backseat driver in my family. It's my sister-in-law. She thinks she a directions expert. Problem is she has a hard time finding her own home.

Cheers, Anthony

Luckily we have no backseat-drivers in our family.

My wife starts sleeping latest when we enter the motorway and awakes when I brake in the exit.
