Review: Shick Quattro Titanium Trimmer

OK guys, a few days ago i picked up the new Shick Quattro Titanium Trimmer. After two days of use I think it's time for a review... I'm not a big fan of Shick blades because I feel the wires they put over the blades result in the shave not being as close as it could be... but I'll try to be fair.

First off, it cost about $10. I got mine for $9 with a shoppers card. Wal-greens had it for $13 & Wal-mart for $11. The box is HUGE, but there is not much in it. You get the handle, 1 Quattro Titanium blade & 1 Energizer AA battery. you do NOT[/u] get a holder for the handle like you do with any other Quattro handle.

because of the built in clippers, it does have some heft to it. The handle is also roughly about 1/2 inch think. There is one power button and that turns on the clippers. The clippers do have a decent powered motor powering it, and that does cause the whole thing to vibrate like a powered Mach 3 or Power Fusion. However, this does make the clippers a tad on the loud side. They are about 1/2 wide. The clippers are also shower safe. The instructions on the box say  to clean the clippers is to run them under hot water, and "occasionally" oil them with "Household oil" (whatever that means).  There is no adjustment for the clippers, so if the blade ever looses it's alignment, your SOL. the clippers do have a plastic guard. this guard has 3 adjustments that are stamped with 1, 2, & 3 (1 closest, 3 longest). you can also remove the guard for a closer shave.

I tried clippers on my 3 day growth on my head. Now, I have average growing hair. with no guard I did not notice any "trimming" happening with the clippers.  So i tried them on some arm hair. With the longer arm hair, the clippers cut like a hot knife through warm butter. HOWEVER, a second pass with my $10 "personal trimmer" removed the stubble that the Shick clipper left behind.

I have used this thing twice for my face 7 head. Here are my impressions:

The blades actually gave me a shave that I felt was as close as  the HB + Sensor excel combo i use. However, after 8 hours i could tell the difference. When I rubbed my head, i found a considerable amount of more stubble than I usually had with my HB/Sensor shave. The blade also caught on patches of hair both days, causing me to thave 3 different areas in multiple directions. But on the plus side, the blades never clogend and riced clean each time.

I shaved with the clippers on thinking vibration's worked the same way as a Powered M3 or Fusion... but the battery died 3/4 though my second shave.

Personal feelings:

1) The Shick blades gave me a close shave, but it did not last as long.
2) The clippers are good for grooming facial hair, but not removing a few days growth or man-scaping.
3) the lack of a handle holder means you have a tray of blades floating around plus the handle. This handle does not fit other Quattro trays.

Conclusions:
good for those that currently use a quatro blade and have facial hair, but not worth switching out your current blade.

I used to have one. A month ago I tried to use it to buzz my hair, and I have not had it all that long, or used the trimmer all that much. I only had very short hair, I buzz my head with no attacment as close to the scalp as the razor gets, I just dont shave past that cause I can not get a tan on my head to get rid of the pale color. But anyways, I was using it to trim my hair, which was very short already, same length as it is in my currrent display photo, got half way through it and it shorted on me. I thought maybe it was just the battery, and put a new one in it, and it would seem to be working, then when i put it to my head to trim my hair, the motor would give out, and it got stuck in some of my hair. Needless to say I got pissed, chucked it at a wall and smashed it to smithereens! Good Bye and Good Riddance to that peice of crap! I had to shave my head completely bald with some cheap ass bic shavers I had so I would not have to go outside with half a head of hair, which even though my hair was extremely short, it took me a while, I had to go through 4 of those bic razors because my hair was long enough to clog the blades and take me a while to shave, and I cut myself a million times thanks to shick!

I personally hated the QTT. I used it once this winter and returned it to Walmart the next day. The razor had a horrible cutting angle to it, the trimmer was useless and the product was made incredibly cheap!   

The Quattro disposables were not too bad though. I think they were the first razor I used when I went sly.

Ya, I like the Shikk Quatro Disposables too. They were not too expensive, plus they bent and went with the curves of your head. I have a small dive in my head from when I was younger, and it went in the grove and got the hairs out I could not do with different razors.
