Razor bumps. Shave over them and treat or back off?
« on: March 06, 2008, 07:22:54 AM »
Asked this in another thread but in doing so I kinda went off topic and wanted to focus on one thing at a time (wanna shave tomm morning):
Can one who has bumps and has given them some time to cool down but they're not all the way gone yet (I haven't shaved since last Wed) shave and then continue to use stuff like Tend Skin to get rid of the bumps reasonably assume that stuff will still work?  Or should I just not shave PERIOD until all the bumps are gone (which SUCKS, my hair is making a full fledged comeback)?  Has anyone with bumps continued to shave and treat the bumps and had them go away....or no?

If it were me, I would keep shaving. Your skin needs to build up some tolerance to shaving. Once it has, I think your bumps may go away.

My immediate thought was with Pig Pen.

I haven't had alot of bumps.  But one mole or somethin' up there.  I had no choice but to shave since the damn thing wasn't goin' anywhere.

Nicked it once and it bled pretty good, but it toughened up and now I ain't gotta worry 'bout it none.

Alright, I'll go with that and shave tomm. morning and just use my anti-bumping stuff.  I hope I don't regret it and bump out with a vengence.

Hey dude...

Just remember it may take a few weeks to see a difference, so stick to the daily shave and use some treatments and baby your skin..

but stick to the daily shave, i think even a day's growth will give you irritation and cause bumps ...

hang in there and be steadfast....your head looks soo great razored smooth it would be a shame to cover it up! O0

I shaved my head for the first time last Monday.  Had some major irritation on the back of my neck.  Treated with Bump Patrol right after the shave and A&D cream and just kept shaving every other day.  Shaved very lightly over the irritation and its now calming down and I don't feel it anymore when I bend my neck back.  The A&D ointment works great! We have a ton of it around the house since its primary use is for diaper rashes.  I buy the Equate version from WalMart, a few bucks cheaper than the name brand stuff and works just as well.
