Saving Water

In in North Carolina where we're in the middle of the worst drought in recorded history. I was wondering if any of you who are experiancing a water shortage have any tips on saving water while shaving? I for one have started filling my sink  with water to rinse my razors, never run the water unless I'm actually using it, and lastly turn off the shower while I'm soaping up or using a scrub on my head.

Oh man....turning off the shower while soaping up.....dude I couldnt do that.....it would get too cold...I constantly have to have the hot water running on me..................gives me the chills just thinking about it.

You could get the water hot and soak a towel to warm your face and then clean your face after shaving.  Then keep just filling the sink to rinse the blade.

Get a above ground cistern. Most of us country folk had them [had because I'm a city transplant :)

At home all bets are off!  When we go camping though we have to be careful.  The crap tank on the RV is only so big.

I fill the sink about 1/2 full with hot water that's it, all the water I use when I shave.  I then wipe my head with cool rag or towel.   That or I warm some water on the camp stove and shave with it.

Timmy can't handle anymore shrinkage.




On the real though, I've been thinking how I could do the same, I hate the thought of wasting a ton of water, I'm also the guy who gets on everyone's case about leaving lights on, messing with my thermostat and young rapscallions on my lawn. I'm the oldest 26 year old guy ever.

I shave in the shower... My shower head is a low-flow model. I also got a "shut off" valve from Home Depot for a few bucks. Basically, it goes behind the shower head. You flip THAT switch when you don't the water to run. That way you keep the water stays where you set it & you only use it when you need it.

The other option you could do if your THAT concerned is get a bowl, fill that with water and rinse the blade in that. If you were in the Militarily, it's the same thing as shaving out of a canteen cup, but your using a bowl instead.
