New Sly Guy
« on: February 18, 2008, 12:37:16 PM »
I have had the typical receding hairline for years, I finally got tired of being the balding guy and went all the way...The first thing my wife said after she saw it was " I hate it, I really hate it"  :Xo! so I am not sure if it is the right look for me..(head shape, skin tone, ya know)   I have also received plenty of negative response from other people.  $c#m But it is starting to grow( not my hair, my Sly look) on people and I think some sun will help.. So I will stick with it through the summer..
I really appreciate this site and have visited it numerous times for advice before joining. Keep up the good work... YR*(k YR*(k YR*(k

MOJIM-

You wear the SLY look VERY well. Remember... it's an adjustment for most people around you. I "ll bet if you keep it a few months people won't even remember what you looked like with hair.

My kids actually cried when I shaved mine,,,, but last week, as a joke, I told them I was going to grow it back. When i said that they ran away screaming," Don't do it daddy you'll look funny with hair". :*))

Mojim, I don't know what you looked like before doin' the deed, but it looks great to me.  Stick to your guns if you like it; most people will get used to it... hopefully the wife will too.  Welcome aboard.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

Mojim, welcome to sly bald guys!

Congratulations and welcome mojim!

My biggest struggle was and sometimes still is with other people so I totally understand.  It really is their problem though so don't let them manipulate you to conform to their expectations.  ;)

Looks good, man! I think you're wise to give the look some time to grow on you (and hopefully your wife, too). Welcome.

The first thing my wife said after she saw it was " I hate it, I really hate it"  :Xo!

Welcome to the site & Slyness.  Not only to you now have a lot of Sly brothers, but many who also share the "Hating" Spouse issue--shaving bumps nicks, etc. are small potatoes compared to this.  Hang in, she'll just have to learn to live w/ it, and when you get compliments from her friends and family in her presence--it happens a lot from my experience--my suggestion don't rub it in, a small "sly" smile is all it takes.  My spouse has stopped the daily rant, and now only occasionally b_tches about the "look!"  Maybe, but I'm not counting on this, she'll embrace it too, but for now, silence is golden and smooth!

Welcome, Mojim!

I agree: Looks good, man!

Most wifes hate the look, but in a while they start to like the feeling and the headrub and your confidence with your sly look.

Keep smooth and enjoy this great forum.

I say go for it.....it will get better looking with every shave.   See just look at me ...I get better lookign everyday.  .....????  Well I do! lol

Welcome to the Sly Bald Guys site, mojim. Glad you joined us and it's good to hear you've set yourself free.
As far as keeping it smooth, I say do what's right for you. Part of the problem is letting other people tell us how we should look and feel.
Hang in there, and keep us posted on your "slydom".    O0
